Coronation Street Christmas Storyline Odds: Festive Frustration For Platts
Coronation Street super-fans could be set for some festive frustration this year, particularly if their favourite family is the Platts.
The cobbles clan have dominated the storylines of many a Corrie Christmas over the years, and 2024 looks set to be no different, as the Platts are the talk of betting sites with just a couple of weeks to go until the big day.
Some viewers may have both eyes on what will happen to Gail Platt this Christmas, after it was confirmed actress Helen Worth, who has played the Corrie matriarch for 50 years, is to bow out of the role on Christmas Day.
But those with a penchant for the Platts should also keep an eye on the goings-on between Gail's son David and his wife Shona Platt.
Platt Split
David has been up to his old tricks again, and it could threaten his marriage.
The character - played by Jack P Shepherd - has been intercepting visiting orders sent from prison by Shona's son Clayton Hibbs, who David also visited in jail and insisted Shona doesn't want to see him.
But David's stepson Max let slip his secret after following Shona to the prison.
After Shona tried to take on the jail's security, Max told her: "It's not them you should be having a go at - they are not the ones lying. David is."

After the beans were spilled, Shona went into town for a night out rather than back to David, and there has been speculation that this could lead to some infidelity.
Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks recently said: "The Platts are at the heart of Christmas. You've got David and Shona - and David has made massive mistakes in hiding visiting orders from Clayton.
"This goes on to have massive consequences and Shona hits that self-destruct button in the build-up to Christmas and makes some really terrible judgement calls.
"What is important for me about David and Shona is that they can both really mess up, but that love that they have is so strong. But can they overcome that? I don't know. All those secrets come to the forefront on Christmas Day."
With the show boss unsure whether David can save his marriage to Shona, it's just 4/6 on betting apps that the pair go their separate ways over the festive period, while it's 6/4 they hold it together.
Gail Happy Ever After?
While one Platt relationship is looking desperate, another is heading the right way - but will there be a happy ending?
As part of Helen's exit storyline, Gail looks set to wed her old flame Jesse Chadwick - who is played by John Thomson - but it's not set in stone that she goes through with the nuptials.
Coronation Street Storyline Odds: Gail Platt To Wed In 2025
Yes | 8/13 | 61.9% |
No | 13/8 | 38.1% |
Show boss Kate said: "It’s very fun, it’s a very lively Christmas on the street, lots of bombshells are dropped.
"Obviously, this is set against Gail’s wedding, whether she goes through with that or not, I cannot tell anything."
Gail is just 8/13 to walk down the aisle for a seventh time, but Kate admitted the festive plot will be "classic Corrie with a bit of a twist".
The producer has also promised to give Gail the exit "she deserves".
Coronation Street Storyline Odds: Gail Platt To Die
No | 8/15 | 65.2% |
Yes | 15/8 | 34.8% |
This could mean exiting the cobbles in a blaze of glory never to return again, but it seems unlikely that Corrie bosses would kill off one of their most iconic characters.
Gail is 15/8 to meet her maker over the festive period, but it's 8/15 she leaves of her own accord.
And Helen herself has even described it as "the perfect ending for Gail".
A Rosie 2025
But there could be some new year joy for the Webster family.
It's just 4/7 that Rosie Webster star Helen Flanagan makes a cobbles comeback next year, and 8/13 she does so before the year is out.
Coronation Street Odds: When Will Helen Flanagan Return?
Year | Odds | Probability |
2025 | 4/7 | 63.6% |
2024 | 8/13 | 61.9% |
2026 | 2/1 | 33.3% |
2027 Or Later | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Never | 10/1 | 9.1% |
"I live now where I did growing up and I've moved around so much, you know, with my ex, football and stuff, so I'm back.
"But to be able to do Coronation Street, they would have to ask me back. Also if I went back and stuff, I'd want to be in a good storyline and what have you."
It looks set to be a Rosie 2025 in Weatherfield.
