This continues until the upgrade symbol appears. If, on the other hand, at least one upgrade symbols appears, the stack will not move, but its symbols will be upgraded to the next higher-paying symbol. To keep track of the upgrades, there will be a symbol upgrade progression display below the reels. The feature ends when you fill all five reels with stacks, meaning, at the end of the feature you'll have a screen filled with matching symbols!
