AFL Betting Tips 2025: Round 6 Best Bets And Betting Trends

One of the fan favourites of the AFL calendar, Easter weekend involves a five-day program that will carry forward the festivities of last week’s entertaining Gather Round in Adelaide.
It was yet another winning week for readers of our regular AFL best bets column as, for the third time running, five of our six selections saluted to return a 49% profit and lift our profit for the 2025 season to 26%.
We’ve done the hard work again by taking a look at the best Australian betting sites to come up with our six favourite plays for Round 6 of the 2025 AFL season.
AFL Round 6 Predictions:
- Melbourne Vs Fremantle Under 168.5 Points - 1.90 With Unibet
- Bulldogs Vs St Kilda Over 181.5 Points - 1.90 With PlayUp
- Geelong To Beat Hawthorn - 1.87 With Picklebet
Melbourne Vs Fremantle, Saturday 1:20pm AEDT
One of two remaining winless teams in 2025 at the start of the round, Melbourne are on the verge of sacking head coach Simon Goodwin unless they can put together a competitive performance as 16-point outsiders against Fremantle.
Melbourne are the second-worst scoring team of the competition with an average of just 61 points per game and face a team that, since going for a whopping 147 against Geelong, have conceded fewer than 70 points in three of their last four games, as well as 81 against the Bulldogs.
They are not near the top of the charts themselves when it comes to their own scoring prowess (89 points per game), which is why both the Demons and the Dockers are in the bottom six when it comes to total points scored/conceded.
Jake Bowey was amongst Melbourne’s leading possession getters in the loss to Essendon, notching up 20 or more disposals for a fourth consecutive week - or the sixth time in his last eight appearances if you want to count the back end of last season.
Don’t accept as low as 1.48 on some of the best AFL betting sites when you can get 1.70 on Ladbrokes for Bowey to continue the trend.
Best Bet: Under 168.5 Points - 1.90 With Unibet
Player Prop: Jake Bowey 20+ Disposals - 1.70 With Ladbrokes
Western Bulldogs Vs St Kilda, Sunday 7:20pm AEDT
The five-round sample size points towards a potential edge on the total points market for the Sunday night game at Marvel Stadium, which at the time of writing was 181.5 points on PlayUp.
Eight of the 10 games involving either team this year cleared the main total points handicap, including all five of St Kilda’s thanks to Ross Lyon’s side both scoring (95.2) and conceding (92.2) an average of more than 90 points per match. That’s unlike him, isn’t it!
The Bulldogs average 181.4 total points per game, which rose last week after their dreadful fadeout at Norwood Oval where they conceded 14 second-half goals to reigning premiers Brisbane.
Many are expecting them to come out firing and prove their favouritism on Sunday, but it’s hard to back them to win given they have struggled to close out games more often than not, so we’re instead siding with the total points trend.
Jack Higgins is a very popular option with punters who enjoy playing goalscoring markets and Betr is the place to go with odds of 1.50 for him to register what would be an eighth consecutive 2+ goal haul.
Only four of those previous seven saw him go to 3+ goals and beyond, so odds of 2.55 don’t stand out when considering the additional risk being taken on.
Best Bet: Over 181.5 Points - 1.90 With PlayUp
Player Prop: Jack Higgins 2+ Goal - 1.50 With Betr
Geelong Vs Hawthorn, Monday 3:20pm AEDT
Geelong are now 4-1 when it comes to covering the pre-match line in 2025 and that’s just one reason why we’re keen on them to get the four points against a Hawthorn side who were bruised by Port Adelaide last weekend.
The Cats won five of the six H2Hs to take place since 2020, thrashing them by 36 points on Easter Monday last year and then by 51 points at GMHBA Stadium later in the season.
Most notably the second of those was during Hawthorn’s resurgence which now has them amongst the Premiership favourites with the best betting apps.
They have momentum on their side after overcoming a slow start to defeat Adelaide, another one of 2025’s strong starters, and are likely to get running defender Tom Stewart back from a brief illness this week.
There could perhaps be no better example this round of why it pays to shop around than to observe the odds available for 35-year-old Patrick Dangerfield to boot 2+ goals for a fifth time in 2025.
Whilst you’ll be quoted in the range of 1.60-1.70 for a 2+ goal bet for Dangerfield with most books, Ladbrokes was offering a stunning 2.00 at time of publication - a long way ahead of the market in terms of value.
It was 2019 the last time he kicked 2+ goals against the Cats, but it’s hard to argue he is rediscovering some of his best form as a forward in 2025.
Best Bet: Geelong To Win - 1.87 With Picklebet
Player Prop: Patrick Dangerfield 2+ Goals - 2.00 With Ladbrokes
