The festival of football is fully underway at World Cup 2022 and betting sites have been working overtime to generate odds for all the games in Qatar.

The tournament hasn’t been without its controversies since it started on Sunday.

Whether it be Qatari fans streaming out of the Al Bayt Stadium early as their side succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Ecuador in the opening game or the FIFA-enforced climbdown of seven FAs (including England) from their promise to wear of the LGBTQ+ ‘One Love’ inclusivity captain’s armband.

However, getting back to the on-pitch action, there are four games to look forward to in Group C and Group D as tournament heavyweights like Argentina and France get their campaigns underway on Tuesday.

World Cup betting sites have released their prices for the fixtures and we have a tip for each of them.

Argentina vs Saudi Arabia, Tuesday, 10am

Lionel Messi and Co begin their quest for a first World Cup title in 36 years as they take on Saudi Arabia to kick-off Tuesday’s proceedings.

The Saudis are likely to enjoy huge support at the Lusail Stadium given the country’s close proximity to Qatar, but betting apps still have them down as massive 22/1 underdogs for the game.

Saudi manager Hervé Renard has called up an entirely home-based squad for the tournament and they do seem to have a mean defensive streak of late, as they haven’t conceded more than one goal in their last 10 outings.

Argentina will be a different kettle of fish for them though, as the Copa America champions have won their last five games, all by impressive margins.

Of course, Messi has figured prominently in those victories, and the great man has found the net 10 times (including FIVE in one game against Estonia) in those aforementioned five matches.

Given the lower level of opposition he faces here, we fancy Messi to inflict serious damage on Saudi Arabia and don’t be surprised if he features on the scoresheet more than once come the final whistle.

Tip: Lionel Messi To Score 2 Or More - 3/1 With Ladbrokes

Denmark vs Tunisia, Tuesday, 1pm

Denmark are set to make their sixth appearance at a World Cup finals after a near-perfect qualifying campaign (W9, L1), partly thanks to a defence that conceded just three goals – the joint-lowest total of any team that played in a six-team group.

They arrive with high ambitions and their two wins over defending world champions and Group D rivals, France, in the UEFA Nations League earlier this year was a mark of intent.

Denmark have won their opening group stage game in four of their previous five World Cup appearances (L1), and kick off in Doha against Tunisia, who they should have no problem in getting the better of.

Mexico vs Poland, Tuesday, 4pm

Robert Lewandowski is one of the greatest goalscorers of his generation, but the Poland captain has never netted a World Cup goal. The Poles finished bottom of their group at the 2018 World Cup, scoring only twice, while they missed out on qualification for 2014 and 2010.

Lewandowski remains as prolific as ever though and was joint fourth top goalscorer across all continents in qualifying for Qatar 2022 as Poland averaged three goals a game in Group I. He’s their penalty taker and the first name on the team-sheet – it’ll be a surprise to all if he fails to break his World Cup duck.

But will the striker get off to the best possible start against Mexico? Well, Gerardo Martino’s side have lost three of their last five matches ahead of Qatar – including a 2-1 loss to Sweden, who Poland comfortably dispatched in the playoffs when qualifying for the tournament.

Expect Poland to edge the North Americans with Lewandowski making the difference.

Tip: Lewandowski To Score First & Poland To Win – 6/1 with Betfair

France vs Australia, Tuesday, 7pm

For a second successive edition of the World Cup, France and Australia will face off in their first respective group stage games of the tournament.

This time, reigning champions France are expected to improve upon their 2-1 defeat of Australia in 2018, as they seek to become the first back-to-back winners since Brazil managed the feat in 1962.

They'll hope to continue Europe’s recent domination of this event with what would be a fifth consecutive World Cup triumph for a UEFA nation.

France’s lead-up to this tournament has been increasingly disastrous, winning just one of their six UEFA Nations League A games as favourites (D2, L3), narrowly missing relegation from their group and subsequently dropping to fourth in the world rankings as a result.

All three of the previous World Cup winners failed to get out of their group in the next World Cup and with the likes of Benzema, Kante, Pogba and Varane all out injured, it may be worth siding with Australia to cause an upset in Group D.

Tip: Australia Draw No Bet - 9/1 with Bet365
