Professional Experience

Donn began his racing journalism career in 1993 as the main racing features writer with the Sunday Independent. He has since become one of Ireland's established racing journalists, earning four nominations for the HWPA Racing Writer of the Year award and working across print, television and radio.

He has worked as a broadcaster with RTÉ, Virgin Media, Sky, UTV and Newstalk and is now a regular presenter and analyst on Racing TV. His expertise extends to books, having ghost-written six racing autobiographies, including those of Sir Anthony McCoy, Pat Smullen and Davy Russell. Russell's autobiography was shortlisted for the 2024 An Post Irish Sports Book of the Year.

Donn also has a strong record as a racing tipster, winning the 2010 Racing Post/Tote Ten To Follow competition from more than 20,000 entries.
