The NHL tossed a little bit of fun into the mix on Tuesday night as Carolina did comfortably win at home over Boston. However, St. Louis and Los Angeles posted road wins and went up three games to two in their series.

Tonight again features three Game 5’s and the Pittsburgh Penguins have the chance to eliminate the New York Rangers. Meanwhile, Calgary entertains Dallas and Florida faces Washington. Now, about last night…

Toronto Strikes Like Lightning Against Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay dominated most of the first 20 minutes on Tuesday night and had a two-goal cushion over Toronto. The Maple Leafs could have panicked but did not. They scored four of the next five goals including three in the third period as the Maple Leafs held on for a 4-3 win. This gives Toronto a 3-2 series lead.

Game 6 is at Tampa Bay on Thursday night. How does Tampa Bay rebound?

Game 5 was all about how Toronto battled back. Even John Tavares scored a goal as Toronto saw more balanced scoring punctuated by an Auston Matthews goal in the third period. That proved to be the game-winner.

Thankfully, the pace delivered some clutch covers and the Over hit for Ontario sports bettors.

What will happen on Thursday is anyone’s guess. This game will not be dull. Toronto showed a great deal of resolve Tuesday night.

Again, the expectation is this series goes the distance. Toronto has the tools to try and eliminate the defending two-time Stanley Cup Champions. Now, it comes down to execution.

Glossing Over Edmonton

Edmonton will likely still be favoured a bit over Los Angeles for Game 6. The Oilers have been on that side of the moneyline this entire series.

For the first time, Edmonton is an underdog to win the series, however. That number comes in around 2.40 and could be worth looking into.

While the Over keeps teetering to 7.0, it has not done so. That is good news.

Here are some more bets to consider:

  • Team Over 6.5 goals: 1.95
  • Edmonton Series Odds: 2,40

If Edmonton wins Game 6, the expectation is that the numbers will flip to the Oilers, and understandably so. The dilemma then becomes that Los Angeles has already won twice there.

We are waiting a bit on some of the Edmonton and Los Angeles player props. Those proved to be profitable on Tuesday night.

The Fun That is Now The Calgary Flames

Again, the KISS mantra rings true. Keeping wagers and betting small and/or fractional is not a bad thing tonight. Calgary and Dallas combined for 89 shots on Monday. That does not seem to be likely. On the other hand, Jake Oettinger is expected to see 35+ shots. His save prop is one to wait on and bet again.

The expectation is that Calgary will keep trying to push relentlessly forward. That is what has worked in the last two games. Can players like Mikael Backlund and Trevor Lewis come through again to keep Calgary balanced? They should be able to generate plenty of scoring chances with last-line change.

With props hitting at an intriguing rate, let’s go in some different directions here.

  • Tyler Seguin and Matthew Tkachuk to both score (tiny wager): 10.00
  • Matthew Tkachuk anytime goal: 2.60
  • Flames to win and both teams to score: 1.98
  • Roope Hintz Over 0.5 assists: 3.00
  • 60-minute correct score: 16.00
  • Keep an eye on the shot and save props for this game.

Tonight’s Quick Hitters

This is the final part of the article where we look at the rest of the night in the NHL. Tonight’s slate has just two other games since the Colorado Avalanche already advanced.

  • Florida Panthers in 60 moneyline (must-win game): 1.65
  • Florida first period Over 1.5 goals: if it gets up to 1.60
  • Jake Guentzel anytime goal: 2.45
  • Jonathan Huberdeau anytime goal and Florida win: 3.50
  • Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kreider goal: 6.75 (watch the number)

As always, bet wisely and do not go too far over one’s tonight. Besides, Round 2 will be here before sports bettors know it.
