Loto-Quebec Casino And Lottery Revenue Rise In First Quarter

For the 90-day period from April 1 to June 29, revenue at Quebec's casinos and gaming halls climbed 4.4% to CA$337.6 million. 

Loto-Quebec said visitor numbers at its casino properties increased during the quarter, which it linked to the offer's continued relevance to players.

The lottery division generated CA$241.1 million, also up 2.1%, while revenue from standalone gaming establishments fell 1.8% to CA$208.4 million.

Loto-Quebec pointed to the overlap between the National Hockey League playoffs and the FIFA World Cup during June as a factor supporting revenue across its business lines during the quarter.

Consolidated net income reached CA$398.1 million, up CA$13.7 million, or 3.6%, and ahead of the corporation's internal target for the period.

The corporation paid out close to CA$460 million in lottery prizes during the quarter. 

The single largest win was a CA$40 million Lotto Max jackpot shared by one couple, part of a quarter Loto-Quebec described as continuing a multi-year trend of steady growth across its lottery, casino and gaming establishment operations.
