Partypoker Ontario Poker Championship Underway, Guarantees Topping $50K

The Partypoker Ontario Poker Championship got underway on Sunday with the first of 74 events spanning three buy-in levels. 

The inaugural poker series runs until Sept. 26 and features MTTs costing between $1.10 and $530. As well as offering MTTs at three different levels for all 74 events, the Partypoker Ontario Poker Championship schedule covers a variety of formats, including 6-max, PKO, turbo, and deepstack. 

The Opener kicked things off last Sunday but there are still more than 100 tournaments left to play. To ensure Ontarians have as many opportunities to play as possible, the series is running across three all three locally licensed sites on the Partypoker network. Those sites are Partypoker ON, BetMGM Poker ON and bwin Poker ON. 

Big-Money Main Events

Standing proud on the schedule are three main events. There are 16 starting flights for each main event. That means anyone who doesn’t make it through one starting flight can register again on a different take for another shot at making Day 2. 

Day 2 of the three main events will bring the series to a close on Sept. 26 and, with it, a trio of champions. Not only will the main event winners have their names etched into Ontario online poker history, but they’ll also win a share of prize pools ranging from $5,000 to $50,000:

• $5.50 main event = $5,000 guarantee
• $22 main event = $10,000 guarantee
• $109 main event = $50,000 guarantee

You can buy into the main events directly, as you’d expect. However, as is customary with online poker series, there are cheaper ways to play. Partypoker Ontario and its counterparts are running a plethora of qualifiers for every event. That means you can win your way into the main events for as little as $0.01. 

Something for Everyone in the Partypoker Ontario Poker Championship

Also standing tall on the Partypoker Ontario Poker Championship schedule are two high rollers costing $320 and $530. At the other end of the spectrum, there are midweek and weekend MTTs with guarantees topping $15,000. 

This spread of tournaments should ensure everyone has a chance to play, regardless of their commitments throughout the week. As Steve Spindler, Partypoker Regional Manager, said, the mixture of events and start times makes it the “perfect opening series.” 

Getting off to a strong start is important because online poker in Ontario is slowly gaining traction. Ever since the newly regulated market began welcoming licensed operators in April, competition has increased. 

Ontario Online Poker Scene is on Fire Right Now

PokerStars is currently in the midst of its first Bounty Builder in Ontario. The $1 million guaranteed series features a $100,000 main event and leads straight into the PokerStars Ontario Championship of Online Poker (ONCOOP). 

The tournament team at Partypoker HQ has hit back the best way they know how and that’s by creating a rival series that offers something for players at all levels. 

For anyone that’s aged 19+ and in the province of Ontario, that’s great news because it means the next few weeks are going to be packed with lucrative online action at Partypoker ON and beyond.
