Flutter Names Dan Taylor Group CEO As Peter Jackson Steps Down

Flutter Entertainment has confirmed a change of leader at the top of the world’s largest online betting and gaming company.

Peter Jackson will step down as group chief executive and leave the board, with Dan Taylor taking over the following day.

The owner of online casino and betting brands including Paddy Power, Betfair, Sky Betting & Gaming, tombola, PokerStars and FanDuel set out the handover, alongside its second quarter results.

Taylor becomes group chief executive on October 1, 2026 and joins the board on the same day.

Jackson Steps Down After Nearly Nine Years

Jackson has run the business for nearly nine years, arriving as chief executive of Paddy Power Betfair in early 2018 and overseeing its rebrand to Flutter and its expansion in the United States through FanDuel. He will stay on as an adviser until the end of 2026 to help with the transition.

“It has been such a privilege to lead Flutter’s transformation, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved over nearly nine years,” Jackson said in the company statement. He added that he leaves “with great confidence in Dan, the leadership team and the Company’s future.”

Who Is Dan Taylor

Taylor is a Flutter insider. He is currently chief executive of Flutter International, the division that reported more than $9 billion of revenue and over $2.2 billion of adjusted earnings in 2025, and he was made group president in May 2026 with responsibility for commercial delivery across the whole portfolio.

That remit included FanDuel, where the company says a sportsbook improvement plan is showing early signs of momentum.

He previously ran Paddy Power Betfair between 2018 and 2020, having earlier led its UK and Ireland and retail operations.

He is also a non-executive director at retailer Dunelm and holds a degree in economics from the University of Cambridge.

Why The Change Comes Now

The company framed the move as a planned succession rather than a sudden departure. John Bryant, chair of the board, said Taylor has “an outstanding track record of delivering results, building high-performing teams and leading complex international businesses,” and thanked Jackson for taking Flutter “from Paddy Power Betfair into the world’s leading online sports betting and iGaming operator.”

The timing matters for anyone watching the betting sector. The handover was announced with second quarter figures that showed group revenue of $4,326 million for the three months to June 30, 2026, up 3% year on year, a slower rate of growth than the double-digit expansion investors had grown used to. Flutter reported revenue of $16,383 million for the 2025 financial year.

The Irish Independent reported the change as part of an effort to re-energise the business, though that framing did not appear in Flutter’s own statement, which pointed to an orderly transition and continuity of strategy.

What Happens Next

Taylor said his “priority will be to keep delivering for our colleagues, customers and shareholders, while building on the momentum we’ve created across the business.” He inherits a group that is the clear market leader in the United States through FanDuel but faces tougher trading in mature markets and rising regulatory and tax pressure across Europe.

The next milestone is the formal handover on October 1, 2026, with Jackson remaining reachable as an adviser until the end of the year.
