Bulgarian Party Proposes Total Ban On Gambling Advertising

MPs from the Bulgarian party We Continue the Change have proposed a total ban on gambling advertising in populated areas and the media.
The bill, submitted to parliament on September 6, 2026, was reported by Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) and by Bulgarian outlet Epicenter.bg.
The bill proposes a total ban on gambling advertising on television, radio, in print publications, online and on social media, as well as on all outdoor advertising, including billboards, public transport stops, building facades, electronic displays and vehicle branding.
It would also prohibit the sponsorship of media content, product placement, and the sending of promotional messages related to gambling bonuses and promotions, according to Epicenter.bg.
Proposed Exceptions
The bill allows narrow exceptions: broadcasts of Bulgarian Sports Totalizator draws would remain permitted, as would limited-size advertising on the facade of the gambling venue itself and a logo of up to 10cm by 10cm on sports uniforms intended for adults.
Every permitted advertising format would have to carry the warning "GAMBLING CARRIES A RISK OF DEVELOPING ADDICTION," occupying at least 10% of the advertising area in black letters on a white background, in a clearly legible font.

Party Behind The Bill
We Continue the Change, led by Assen Vassilev, is one of the parties represented in Bulgaria's National Assembly.
If passed, the bill would bring Bulgaria's rules closer to some of the strictest advertising regimes on betting sites in Europe.
The bill will now go through parliament's standard legislative process, which includes committee review before any vote in the chamber.
