Continent 8 Launches SecureEdge CDN With Varnish Software
Continent 8 Technologies has partnered with Varnish Software to launch SecureEdge, a managed service that combines content delivery, a web application firewall (WAF) and DDoS protection for iGaming operators.
Both companies announced the launch on October 20, 2026, and Continent 8 says SecureEdge is available immediately to new and existing customers.
The partnership makes Continent 8 the first organisation globally to deploy Varnish CDN in a Box directly across its own network. It adds a new product for betting sites, casino, live dealer and platform operators.
What SecureEdge Offers
According to Continent 8's announcement, SecureEdge accelerates the delivery of websites, applications, APIs and streaming services. It also helps protect infrastructure from malicious traffic and attacks by processing and filtering traffic closer to end users.
Varnish's own release lists further features: a standard WAF covering the OWASP Top 10, origin shielding and cache persistence to protect infrastructure during traffic surges, managed TLS certificates, instant cache purge and real-time traffic statistics. An Advanced WAF with managed rule sets and bot detection is available as an add-on.
Built For Peak Betting Traffic
Continent 8 points to the sharp traffic increases that betting and gaming platforms see around major sporting events and tournaments.
Keeping performance steady in those periods matters for player experience, it said, while evolving cyber threats add pressure on operators and their technology teams.
The service is built for low-latency delivery of real-time gaming, live dealer, streaming and betting applications. Traffic stays on Continent 8's private network and is delivered on-net when the origin is hosted with Continent 8, according to the Varnish Software release.
Regulated Market Requirements
Continent 8 said SecureEdge also helps operators meet the demands of increasingly complex regulatory environments.
Delivered through its global infrastructure platform, it lets organisations align traffic delivery with market-specific obligations while keeping a consistent experience for players across jurisdictions.
Varnish's release adds that operators get control over where content is served from, to match target markets and in-jurisdiction requirements.
Continent 8 operates a private network across more than 100 locations and sells the service under its own brand.
How The Partnership Works
Varnish CDN in a Box packages the company's caching and content acceleration technology as a turnkey managed service that infrastructure owners can run on their own network.
Varnish provides pre-configured cache nodes, a centralised control plane and 24/7 managed operations, while the service runs under the partner's brand.
Varnish said Continent 8 was the first partner globally to use the model and brought SecureEdge live in a fraction of the time an in-house CDN build typically takes.

Justin Cosnett, Chief Product Officer at Continent 8 Technologies, said operators expanding into new markets need digital infrastructure that delivers performance, resilience and security without added complexity.
He said the partnership lets Continent 8 offer proven content delivery and edge security through a platform customers already know.
