Counter-Strike 2 At Esports World Cup 2026: 32 Teams Chase $2m In Paris

Counter-Strike 2 has taken centre stage at the Esports World Cup 2026, with 32 teams beginning an 11-day fight for a $2 million prize pool.

The Counter-Strike leg of the world's largest multi-game esports festival runs from August 12 to 23 and, for the first time, is staged in Paris, closing with a grand final at the Accor Arena.

How The Tournament Works

The 32 teams have been drawn into four groups of eight, each played as a double-elimination bracket in the GSL format.

Opening matches are best-of-one before the later rounds switch to best-of-three, and the top four sides from every group progress, sending 16 teams through to the playoffs.

The group stage runs from August 12 to 16, with the single-elimination playoffs following from August 19 to 23. Organisers confirmed that every dollar of the $2m pool is earmarked as player prize money.

The Teams To Watch

This is Counter-Strike's third appearance at the Esports World Cup, and the field is stacked. Natus Vincere won the inaugural edition and

The MongolZ arrive as defending champions after taking the title last year. France's Team Vitality, cheered on by a home crowd in Paris, headline a lineup that also features Team Falcons, MOUZ, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, Team Spirit, NAVI, FURIA and Astralis, among others.

With a single-elimination bracket waiting at the business end, the event carries the high-variance drama that draws bettors to Counter-Strike.

Home advantage and recent form make Vitality and Team Falcons among the names to watch in the outright market, though a best-of-one group stage leaves plenty of room for early upsets.

Why It Matters

The Esports World Cup has quickly become one of the richest dates on the esports calendar, and its Counter-Strike tournament doubles as a marker for the wider Valve rankings that shape invitations to other majors.

For fans and for the betting sites that price up Counter-Strike, a $2m event bringing together almost every leading team offers one of the deepest markets of the season. The champions will be crowned at the Accor Arena on August 23.
