Data Shows UK Fantasy Betting Demand Peaks Every August
A new Blask Fantasy Sports 2026 report has found that fantasy sports demand in the UK, the single largest fantasy market by volume globally, peaks every August in line with the return of the Premier League season, which kicked off with Arsenal's 3-0 win over newly-promoted Coventry City.
Blask's data, covering fantasy sports search demand across 100 countries and two years of monthly data, found 76 of them peak in August, while June holds under 2% of the year's fantasy demand, roughly a tenth of August's level.
Overall fantasy demand grew 3% year-on-year in the 12 months to June 2026, four times faster than total iGaming demand across every other category the firm tracked, with 49 of the 100 countries seeing both demand and its share of total iGaming activity rise together over the period.

Looking at brand-level data for the UK's seven largest online betting sites across the last three Premier League kickoffs, Blask found the operator that captures the biggest share of the August fantasy surge is not the brand with the largest overall market share.
That indicates a distinct fantasy-specific audience that doesn't map directly onto season-long market share on betting apps.
