ESIC Hands NOMERCY's 2xplayN Lifetime CS2 Ban

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has banned Counter-Strike 2 player Palkovics "2xplayN" Tamas for life, a day after sanctioning him for match manipulation, ruling that public posts he made while suspended were a further breach of its rules, according to ESIC's decision of October 16, 2026.
The posts showed apparent cash and carried comments about the match-manipulation findings, betting payouts and a return to competition.
ESIC called the conduct an egregious breach that created the appearance of improper conduct under its Code of Conduct and Anti-Corruption Code.
What ESIC Decided On October 16
The lifetime ineligibility replaces the three-year exclusion that would have ended on April 23, 2029, so there is no scheduled return to ESIC member competition. No cooperation-based reduction was applied to the new sanction. ESIC said it had weighed his earlier assistance but that it did not excuse what followed.
The commission was explicit about the limits of its finding: it did not conclude from the photographs alone that the money shown was the proceeds of match-fixing. The earlier substantive findings were recorded rather than charged again.
The ban bars him from taking part in any capacity in competitions covered by ESIC and its members. Members will be notified so they can enforce it, and ESIC said it will facilitate referrals of the sanctioned conduct to Valve, government agencies and law enforcement.

The NOMERCY Case Behind It
On October 15, ESIC announced final decisions against five NOMERCY players following an investigation into match manipulation at Roman Imperium Cup VII. The inquiry covered four best-of-one matches NOMERCY played on March 28, 2026, against BetBoom Team, Sangal Esports, BESTIA and Wildcard.
ESIC said betting intelligence identified a structured, high-value pre-match combination wager targeting a minus 9.5 round handicap across all four matches, and that each result matched the targeted outcome. The evidence bundle included a Runestone Data Partner Report, full-match gameplay review, communications and financial material where produced, and participant responses.
Oliver "kzy" Heck received a lifetime ban, while Janos "James8k" Fodor and Petar "perakokanje" Besir each received five-year bans running to April 23, 2031. Sreten "srtn1" Smiljanic received three years, to April 23, 2029.
The original three-year term for 2xplayN gave substantial weight to his detailed responses, his financial and communications production, and his youth and relative lack of experience. All five sanctions are dated from September 17, 2026, replacing provisional suspensions imposed on April 23.
Why It Matters For Esports Bettors
The case shows how integrity monitoring and data partners feed enforcement, and that a fixed-term ban does not shield a player from further action.
ESIC said participants remain accountable for serious integrity breaches during suspension and that it will seek permanent exclusion where the proven conduct justifies it.
