Rocket League Esports Bans Kofyr From RLCS Until 2027

Rocket League Esports Bans Kofyr From RLCS Until 2027

Rocket League Esports has banned professional player Angel "Kofyr" Lopez from Rocket League Championship Series tournaments and all other Psyonix-affiliated competitions until the end of 2027.

The organisation announced the ban on September 30, citing a violation of section 7.1.3 of the RLCS code of conduct, following allegations about his behaviour toward women at an after-party held during the RLCS World Championship.

The ban follows a clip shared online on September 27 by a user named Delmin, in which streamer Bails discussed an unnamed North American pro who allegedly touched multiple women at the RLCS Worlds after-party.

Bails said the player had arrived drunk and was underage, while ruling out three other named players as suspects. Bails did not identify Kofyr by name, but social media users quickly speculated he was the player being described.

Kofyr's Response

Kofyr addressed the situation publicly on September 28, apologising for "making anyone uncomfortable" with his behaviour.

He said he had reached out directly to the people he made uncomfortable, planned to seek professional help, intended to donate to a women's sexual assault charity and would take a break from social media. His statement did not describe the specific conduct at issue or use the term sexual assault.

Rocket League Esports confirmed the sanction in its own statement two days later: "Kofyr has been banned from Rocket League Championship Series tournaments and all additional Psyonix-affiliated competitions until the end of 2027 because he violated our code of conduct section 7.1.3," the organisation wrote.

Section 7.1.3 of the code of conduct prohibits conduct that is disruptive, unsafe, destructive or harmful to other Rocket League users, including harassing or disrespectful behaviour and unlawful activity.

No Further Detail From Psyonix

Psyonix has not publicly provided further detail about the incident, identified any complainants or explained what evidence led to the disciplinary decision.

The multi-year length of the ban is among the more severe conduct sanctions handed down in Rocket League esports, keeping Kofyr out of the RLCS circuit through the entirety of the 2027 season and underlining how seriously Psyonix is treating player conduct away from the server as the competitive scene grows.

A roughly 15-month ban is unusually long by the standards of past RLCS disciplinary actions, which have more often resulted in fines, short suspensions or quiet roster moves rather than a multi-season tournament ban.

The Context: RLCS Worlds In Fort Worth

The alleged incident took place around the RLCS World Championship, which ran from September 15 to 20 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, where Team Falcons swept Spacestation Gaming 4-0 in the grand final to win the title and the $1.2 million event's top prize.

Kofyr had been playing for Shopify Rebellion, alongside Jason "Firstkiller" Corral and Logan "Lj" Wilt, and had already entered free agency heading into the Rocket League offseason on September 25, days before Rocket League Esports confirmed the ban and five days before the organisation's public statement on the matter.
