Evolution Rallies 14% In August As Flutter And Bally's Slide

Gambling stocks had a mixed August, with early World Cup 2026 momentum lifting several operators even as Flutter Entertainment's first month as a purely US-listed company failed to halt its share slide, and Bally's Corporation warned investors of going-concern risk tied to its debt load.
Evolution Extends Its Rally
Evolution, the Nasdaq Stockholm-listed live casino and slots supplier, rose more than 14% over the month to close at SEK832.60, up around 33% year-to-date.
The gain came despite - or perhaps partly because of - a mandatory takeover approach from investor Kenneth Dart's vehicle Candle Lake Limited.
Evolution's board formally told shareholders to reject Candle Lake's SEK695-per-share cash offer on August 24, saying it undervalued the company relative to its market price.
Flutter's US Listing Doesn't Change The Trend
Flutter's stock declined 5.45% in August, closing the month at $100.18 on the NYSE - down more than 66% year-to-date - in its first full month trading exclusively in New York after completing its exit from the London Stock Exchange.
The company also confirmed a leadership change: Flutter announced on August 5 that its international division president, Dan Taylor, will succeed Peter Jackson as Group CEO from October 1, with Jackson staying on as an advisor through year-end.
The transition followed a second-quarter swing to a $296m net loss, though Jackson said he remains confident that Flutter will gain UK market share as tax rises squeeze mid-tier operators.
Bally's Debt Warning Sends Shares To All-Time Low
US operator Bally's Corporation saw its stock fall more than 36% over the month to $8.96, an all-time low since its 2024 IPO.
In its second-quarter results, Bally's disclosed it does not project meeting the liquidity maintenance requirement or consolidated net leverage ratio covenants on its revolving credit facility over the coming year, against long-term net debt of more than $4.4bn - language confirmed in the company's own Q2 2026 earnings release filed with the SEC.
