Flutter Names Edward Traynor Interim Chief Legal Officer After Don Liu Exit

Flutter Entertainment has named Edward Traynor as interim group chief legal officer, the company disclosed in a regulatory filing, after Don Liu stepped down from the post for a second time in under two years.
Liu's Second Retirement From Flutter
According to Flutter's Form 8-K filing, Don Liu notified the company's board of his intention to resign as chief legal officer on September 28, with his departure effective September 30.
Liu had come out of retirement in April 2025 to take the role on an initial three-month basis, but stayed on for roughly 18 months before stepping away again.
Traynor Adds The Role To An Existing Brief
Edward Traynor, Flutter's group company secretary, became interim chief legal officer effective October 1.
He will combine the legal brief with his existing company secretary duties, a post he has held since April 2015, and sign the regulatory filing announcing the change in that capacity.
The filing gave no details on the length of Traynor's interim tenure or the status of a search for a permanent chief legal officer.
A Leadership Reshuffle In Progress
The change is the latest in a run of senior appointments at the owner of FanDuel and Paddy Power this year.
Flutter has not said whether it will run an external search for a permanent chief legal officer or promote from within.

The Change Lands Alongside A New CEO
Traynor's appointment takes effect the same day Flutter's new group chief executive, Dan Taylor, formally starts in the role.
Taylor, previously president of Flutter and chief executive of its International division, was named incoming CEO in August to succeed Peter Jackson, who stepped down as CEO and from the board on September 30 after nine years in the job and will stay on as an advisor through the end of 2026.
