GeoLocs Launches Fraud Shield To Pair Geolocation With Fraud Detection

GeoLocs, the geolocation compliance technology built by iGaming supplier mkodo, has launched Fraud Shield, a new tool that extends its location-verification platform into automated fraud detection and player risk management.
The product is designed for regulated gaming operators who want to catch account sharing, multi-accounting, location spoofing, bonus abuse and collusion without expanding manual review teams.
What Fraud Shield Detects
Fraud Shield sits alongside GeoLocs' existing geolocation software and is aimed at giving operators visibility into fraudulent player activity beyond location checks alone.
The company says the tool flags multi-accounting and account sharing, device manipulation and compromised devices, suspicious behavioural patterns, potential bonus abuse and collusion, and the use of jailbroken devices.
"Not every fraud event should be treated the same way," said Owen Compton, senior product manager at GeoLocs.
"We built Fraud Shield to give operators the intelligence and flexibility to make better risk decisions. Whether the right action is to investigate, monitor, restrict or block, operators remain firmly in control."

Automated Response Rules
Beyond flagging suspicious activity, Fraud Shield lets operators define their own risk thresholds and configure automated response rules, so the platform can apply actions such as monitoring or account restrictions in real time rather than after the fact.
GeoLocs cites industry estimates that fraud costs the online gambling sector roughly $1 billion a year, a figure it says is rising as operators face more sophisticated attempts to bypass platform controls and exploit promotional offers.
GeoLocs' geolocation software is already licensed by regulators including the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and Gaming Labs International, and has supported operator launches in markets such as Ontario and Brazil.
Fraud Shield will be demonstrated at SBC Summit Lisbon and at G2E Las Vegas, running September 29 to October 1.
