Lazio Signs Kaiyun Sports Sleeve Deal

SS Lazio has signed a new shirt-sleeve sponsorship with Kaiyun Sports, an Asia-focused betting and gaming company, months after being forced to scrap a three-year deal with prediction-markets platform Polymarket.
The Serie A club's new partner is Kaiyun's infotainment and media brand, kaiyunsports.news, which will appear on the sleeves of Lazio's men's first-team matchday jersey for this season and next - a route into football shirt sponsorship that has become common among sports betting operators barred from front-of-shirt deals.
Why The Polymarket Deal Collapsed
Lazio's previous shirt partner, Polymarket, had its sports event contracts products declared illegal gambling by Italy's Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM). The club and platform mutually agreed to end their three-year, €22m (£18.8m) sponsorship arrangement as a result.
The collapse was a blow for Lazio, which had gone more than three years without a front-of-shirt sponsor before signing with Polymarket. That space remains unfilled: the new Kaiyun Sports agreement is a sleeve deal, not a front-of-shirt one.
The Kaiyun Sports Sleeve Agreement
A Lazio statement described kaiyunsports.news as "an international sports information platform offering football news, match updates, and sports content to fans around the world," adding that the partnership will "offer kaiyunsports.news and SS Lazio the opportunity to engage football fans through selected Club assets, dedicated content, and a series of digital activations" over the two seasons.
Structuring the deal around an infotainment brand rather than the Kaiyun Sports betting operation itself is not unusual in Italian football.
Direct sponsorships between betting companies and football clubs have been banned since the 2018 Dignity Decree, pushing operators toward affiliated media or "information" brands to secure pitch-side and shirt visibility.

Betting Sponsorship Rules In Italian Football
The suitability of the Dignity Decree is regularly debated in Italian football, and the conversation sharpened after the national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, with the gap in commercial activity left by betting sponsors often cited.
Betting firms and clubs continue to find ways to work together through infotainment arrangements: Betsson's StarCasino Sport and bet365's bet365 Scores have both signed similar deals with Serie A teams.
The trend reflects a wider commercial reality: with front-of-shirt gambling sponsorship off the table domestically, Italian clubs and Asia-focused operators have found a workaround that still delivers matchday visibility to fans and broadcasters across Serie A's global TV footprint.
Kaiyun Sports has previous experience working with European clubs, having held now-defunct deals with Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest in English football - arrangements that drew controversy because the company did not hold a UK licence after 2023. Kaiyun does not currently hold a gambling licence with Italy's ADM, according to the regulator's public registry, or with any major Western regulated gambling market.
The pattern underlines how betting-adjacent sponsorship in Serie A has shifted since 2018: rather than disappearing after the Dignity Decree, betting brands have re-routed shirt and stadium marketing spend through affiliated news, scores and information products that carry the operator's name without directly breaching the ban on gambling-brand sponsorship.
