Perfect World Confirms China To Host Second CS2 Major Of 2027

Perfect World has confirmed that China will host the second Counter-Strike 2 Major of 2027, the tournament organiser said on September 13, 2026.
The confirmation came through a post on the Perfect World Esports App as part of the company's ninth anniversary celebrations marking Counter-Strike's release in mainland China.
It means Europe will not host a Valve-sanctioned Major in a full calendar year for the first time in the game's history, with betting markets for 2027's two Majors now split between Argentina and China.
Ninth Anniversary Post Confirms The Host Country
Perfect World's announcement named China as the host nation without confirming a host city, organiser or exact dates. The company ran a contest asking fans to guess which Chinese city would stage the event, a promotional format it also used ahead of the 2024 Shanghai Major.
HLTV reported in January 2026 that sources had told them Perfect World was set to run the tournament in Shanghai between November 22 and December 12, 2027, but that detail remains reported rather than officially confirmed by Valve or Perfect World.
Betting Angle: A Third Straight Asian Major
For betting sites and bettors, the confirmation locks in a third Asian Major in as many years, following the Shanghai Major 2024 and the PGL Singapore Major 2026, itself the second Major of 2026.
Asian Majors have historically drawn strong wagering volume from Chinese and Southeast Asian sportsbooks given local team representation and favourable time zones.
The 2024 Shanghai Major, won by Team Spirit's Denis "donk" Sharipov-led lineup, was voted HLTV's Event of the Year, a result that operators partly credit for elevated interest in CS2's outright and map-handicap markets across the region.

First Major Of 2027 Already Locked In For Argentina
Buenos Aires will host the first Counter-Strike Major of 2027, organised by FiReSPORTS, continuing Valve's push to diversify its tournament calendar beyond its traditional European base.
Pairing a South American opener with an Asian closer for 2027 leaves Europe, historically the sport's largest betting market, without a home Major in the calendar year for the first time since CS2's launch.
What Bettors Should Watch Next
Perfect World and Valve have not yet announced the host city, prize pool or qualification structure for the 2027 China Major. Sportsbooks typically open outright markets once the Regional Major Rankings period for the event begins, roughly six months out.
Until Valve issues an official confirmation of venue and dates, punters should treat the Shanghai detail as provisional rather than final, even with two independent reports pointing the same way.
A Fixture On The Chinese Esports Calendar
China's growing role as a Major host follows years of domestic investment in Counter-Strike, including Perfect World's own CS2 league structure and, more recently, LoL organisation Gen.G launching a CS2 roster aimed at the Chinese market.
A second Shanghai-region Major would extend that momentum and give Chinese bookmakers a second marquee Counter-Strike betting event within three years, following the record engagement Perfect World reported around the 2024 event.
