SBC And GRAF Form Strategic Partnership On African Gaming Regulation

SBC and the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF) have formed a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening regulatory dialogue, knowledge exchange and collaboration across Africa's gaming markets, the two organisations announced on September 1.

Under the agreement, SBC will support GRAF's own 2026 conference, running September 14-17 at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre in Maputo, Mozambique, while GRAF becomes an Event Partner of the African Gaming Forum held during SBC Summit 2026 in Lisbon.

GRAF will host a dedicated regulatory panel, "African Gaming Under the Microscope," at the invite-only forum on September 30, featuring senior regulators from across the continent.

Who's Involved?

Confirmed participants at the African Gaming Forum include Moruntshi Kemorwale (Gambling Authority Botswana), Lungile Dukwana (South Africa's National Gambling Board), Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo (Gaming Commission of Ghana), Peter Maina Karimi (Kenya's Gaming Regulatory Authority), Muchanankhwaye Mpuluka (Malawi Gaming & Lotteries Authority) and Bashir Are (Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority).

SBC founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark said the aim is to put African regulators "at the centre" of conversations about the continent's gaming future, given how differently each jurisdiction is developing.

GRAF president Reuben Mabutho Zwane said the tie-up gives African regulators "a strong platform through which to exchange experience, engage internationally" alongside the wider industry.

Part Of Wider Push Into Africa

The partnership adds to SBC's growing focus on Africa within its events portfolio and follows earlier regulatory tie-ups, including a three-year education project with IAGR and IMGL earlier this year.

Sessions at the African Gaming Forum will cover market entry, evolving regulatory frameworks, taxation and responsible gambling - themes that are increasingly shaping how international operators approach betting sites and licensing across African markets.

SBC Summit 2026 runs September 29 to October 1 at Lisbon's FIL and MEO Arena, with capacity for around 40,000 industry attendees.
