Transfer Journalist Fabrizio Romano To Headline SBC Summit 2026 In Lisbon

Fabrizio Romano, football's best-known transfer journalist, will headline a session at SBC Summit 2026 in Lisbon, taking to the event's Super Stage to discuss building a sports media brand in the social media era, according to the event's own programme.

Romano, known globally for his signature “Here we go!” transfer confirmations, has built an audience of more than 70 million followers across social platforms, making him one of the most recognisable voices in football media and a notable booking for an industry event aimed primarily at gambling and sports betting sites.

Part Of A Star-Studded Super Stage Line-Up

The session forms part of SBC Summit's Super Stage programme, which this year also includes NBA legend Michael Jordan and Sportradar chief executive Carsten Koerl among its headline speakers.

SBC Summit runs from September 29 in Lisbon and bills itself as one of the largest annual gatherings for the global betting, online casinos and gaming industries.

Booking figures from outside the traditional gambling media world have become a regular feature of major industry conferences in recent years, reflecting how closely sports betting brands now align their marketing with mainstream sports and entertainment culture.

A Specific Slot On The Super Stage Schedule

Romano is scheduled to appear on the Super Stage at Lisbon's MEO Arena on Wednesday, September 30, at 13:15 local time, for a session titled “Here We Go: Trust, Speed and the Business of Breaking News.”

He will be joined by Lasha Machavariani, founder of SMH Global, for a conversation about how Romano built a global media brand on speed, accuracy and trust.

SBC Events founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark said signing a new player is “one of the most exciting moments for any football fan… a moment of pure anticipation, the kind that has you refreshing your phone every few minutes hoping for news,” adding that fans only relax once Romano delivers his trademark confirmation.

For operators, affiliates and marketers attending, the session is expected to cover what makes creator partnerships with betting and affiliate brands effective, and why reach alone doesn't guarantee genuine engagement.
