VCT Pacific 2027: Format, Cups And Qualifier Slots

Riot Games has published the full blueprint for VCT Pacific in 2027, replacing the old Stage 1 and Stage 2 leagues with two Cups and spreading qualification across six regional circuits, according to the publisher's VCT Pacific 2027 primer dated October 28, 2026.
Kickoff will be held in Bangkok, the first Cup in Manila and the second Cup in Tokyo. Kickoff decides who goes to the opening Masters event in Seoul, while the two Cups lead to the Valencia Masters and Champions in Austin.
How Kickoff Works
Kickoff is the only Pacific event with guaranteed places for the eight partner teams. The 12-team field is completed by four open teams, who must come through qualifiers in Korea, Japan and Southeast Asia, plus a Kickoff Last Chance Qualifier.
That final qualifier has four teams: two from South Asia, one from Oceania and the runner-up from the Southeast Asia Kickoff playoffs. The top three finishers at Kickoff reach the first Masters.
Riot says eight partners leave room for at least four open teams at every major event. Partners are not carried through the season. A partner that misses the next Masters must enter the showdown qualifier, and one that finishes last there drops back into the open qualifiers like everyone else.

Cup Slots By Region
Each Cup has 12 teams, and every place is earned. Korea and Japan receive three direct slots each, Southeast Asia gets two, and Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam get one apiece. The final slot goes to the winner of the Pacific Last Chance Qualifier.
Regional playoffs, which bring together the best eight teams in each circuit, are the only route into a Cup. Teams reach them through open qualifiers, which anyone eligible can enter and retry, or through showdown qualifiers.
Teams that reach the previous Masters skip both stages and go straight to the next playoffs. Riot says the slot split guarantees open teams a chance even if every partner in a region qualifies.
The Last Chance Qualifier
South Asia and Oceania have no direct Cup slots. Instead, the eight-team Pacific Last Chance Qualifier follows the playoffs. It features two South Asian teams, one from Oceania, the second seed from Vietnam, and the second and third seeds from both Thailand and Indonesia. The winner takes the last Cup place.
Open teams receive fixed payments for reaching events: $100,000 for Kickoff or a Cup, $200,000 for Masters and $400,000 for Champions, according to Riot's overview of the 2027 VCT. Prize money is paid on top. A team keeps its points and progress if it retains at least three of its five players.
With no seat guaranteed after Kickoff, the Pacific field should be harder to read than in past seasons. The Kickoff open qualifiers have yet to be detailed, and Riot says more information will follow.
