Alexander Isak has rocked Newcastle by telling the club he wants to explore the chance of a move during the summer transfer window.

The Sweden international did not travel with the rest of the Magpies squad on their pre-season tour of the Far East owing to a thigh injury and now his future is once again in the spotlight.

Isak seemed likely to stay at St James' Park once Liverpool had announced the signing of Hugo Ekitike, but the Premier League champions are favourites once more on betting sites to sign the prolific striker.

Despite Newcastle securing Champions League this season, it seems Isak's head has been turned by all the speculation surrounding his future and a move could be on the cards, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Real Sociedad forward is 7/4 to stay on Tyneside, but Eddie Howe's side now face a battle to hang on to their prize asset with the new season just a few weeks away.

A number of other clubs are also keen to add the forward to their squad during the transfer window, but where will the 25-year-old Swede be playing football next season?

Below, we look at possible destinations for the forward who bagged 23 league goals last season.

Liverpool Favourites To Capture Swede

Liverpool have proved to be the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer following the high-profile signings of Florian Wirtz and Ekitike from Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt respectively.

The Magpies had hoped to bring Ekitike to St James' Park as a back-up striker to Isak, but it now appears they could be struck by a double whammy from the Reds.

The Merseysiders have spent almost £300 million on bringing fresh blood to Anfield, although signing one of Europe's best strikers would be the icing on the cake.

Darwin Nunez would probably need to be sold to facilitate a move for Isak, who has three years left to run on his contract.

Liverpool potentially broke the British transfer record by signing Wirtz and would have to smash that figure again to land the Magpies man, with Newcastle holding out for a reported £150m.

Arne Slot's side are 4/6 favourites with football betting sites to secure what would undoubtedly be the signing of the summer.

Chelsea A Distant Third

Saudi Arabian clubs are on red alert following the news Isak is looking at his options.

A move to the Middle East was priced at 66/1 last week, but those odds have been slashed to 7/1 for him to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo in the region.

Chelsea have been a hive of transfer activity as usual and are 20/1 on betting apps to bring Isak to Stamford Bridge, but that would probably depend on selling Nicolas Jackson to a competitor.

The Blues have already bought Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap and Estevao, although winger Noni Madueke was sold to London rivals Arsenal.

Chelsea have never been afraid to spend big during the transfer window and they may want to strike while the iron is hot on the back of their Club World Cup success.

United Building For Future

Manchester United were 66/1 last week to capture Isak, but their price has also plummeted to 20/1 since the news emerged that Isak was open to offers.

United are in a rebuilding process under Ruben Amorim and fans are excited by the summer signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Rasmus Hojlund has been a failure since his move from Atalanta, so signing a player of Isak's calibre would be a major coup for the Red Devils, who recently loaned out Marcus Rashford to Barcelona.

North-west rivals Liverpool are clear favourites, but United will be waiting to pounce should talks between the two parties fail to produce a positive outcome.

PSG Heading In Right Direction

After years of underachieving with Lionel Messi, Mbappe and Neymar, Paris Saint-Germain are moving in the right direction.

Luis Enrique's side were exquisite in their 5-0 Champions League final win over Inter Milan, and have a squad full of top young players.

Adding a player of Isak's quality in the summer would be a major coup for PSG, who have been cut from 50/1 to 33/1 to sign the Swede.

Gunners Going For Gyokeres

Arsenal fans are crying out for their club to sign a striker, but Isak is unlikely to be the solution to their problems up front.

One reason the Gunners have not been able to end their 20-year wait for a league title is a lack of goals.

However, the north Londoners are closing in on the £63.5m signing of prolific Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, who scored 68 league goals in 66 appearances in two title-winning seasons with the Portuguese club.

Arsenal were 10/1 to sign Isak at one point, although those odds have lengthened significantly to 40/1.

Spanish Giants Big Outsiders

Europe's heavyweights are regarded as dark horses to bring Isak back to Spain where he made his name.

Barcelona have identified a new forward as a must-have addition ahead of next season, not least because Robert Lewandowski is approaching his 37th birthday in August.

Rashford was brought to Camp Nou without fanfare, but the Catalan giants are still experiencing problems registering players with La Liga.

Barca, who won a league and cup double in 2024/25, are 50/1 to secure the Swede’s signature in the summer, the same price as Manchester City.

Real Madrid, though, are available at lower odds of 40/1 which could shorten if they end up selling Rodrygo this summer.

The 24-year-old Brazilian has been linked with a move to Liverpool, although the forward is also thought to be on Tottenham's radar.
