Andoni Iraola Next Club Odds: New Favourite Emerges After Athletic Choose Terzic

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola will leave the club at the end of the season after deciding not to accept the offer of a new deal, but where could he be heading next?

The Spaniard worked wonders during his three-year spell with the Premier League minnows, despite losing three of his first-choice back four to bigger clubs during the summer.

Key forward Antoine Semenyo was also sold to Manchester City during the January transfer window and more players could leave in the close season.

It had been suggested Iraola was heading back to the Basque Country to coach his former club Athletic Bilbao where he spent 12 seasons as a player, but they have headed in a different direction with the imminent appointment of Edin Terzic.

Chelsea are now the new favourites on betting sites to appoint Iraola as their new manager, but there are several other clubs that could make a move ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

We take a look at seven possible destinations for the Cherries boss, whose team still have a chance of playing Champions League football next season.

Blues Need New Man At The Top

Chelsea are looking for a new manager after cutting short Liam Rosenior's short-lived stay at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior was sacked less than four months into a six-and-a-half-year contract on the back of five successive Premier League defeats without scoring a goal for the first time since 1912.

Calum McFarlane has been placed in temporary charge until the end of the season, but he almost certainly won't be at the helm for the 2026/27 campaign.

The Blues are unlikely to be playing Champions League football next season and could feasibly finish in the bottom half of the table, bearing in mind they have to face Liverpool and Tottenham in two of their final three matches.

The Chelsea hierarchy is thought to admire Iraola, viewing him as someone who could help improve the club’s young squad.

Iraola may be concerned about the length of time Chelsea managers are afforded at Stamford Bridge and he would also like to have more say on the recruitment of players, which could prove to be a sticking point.

However, the Basque is 11/10 to end up in west London now that a vacancy has arisen and Athletic are no longer available as an option.

Magpies Could Make A Change

Iraola is the 2/1 favourite with one of the betting apps as a possible replacement for Eddie Howe, who is under pressure at Newcastle.

Last season, Howe engineered a first major domestic trophy in 70 years by winning the Carabao Cup and securing Champions League football with a fifth-placed finish, but the current campaign has been a struggle.

The acrimonious sale of star striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool was momentarily forgotten when his replacement Nick Woltemade made an excellent start to the season following his move from Stuttgart, but he has not scored in the Premier League this year.

Fellow summer signing Yoane Wissa has not started a Premier League game since facing his former club Brentford three months ago.

Nine defeats in their last 13 Premier League outings have seen the Magpies slump to 13th in the table and some fans are starting to think Howe’s time is up after four and a half years in charge.

The Cherries team have never lost to Newcastle under Iraola, who has proved to be a masterful tactician in the Premier League, so it is unsurprising he is 7/4 to end up at St James’ Park for the start of next season.

Palace Looking For Glasner Replacement

Crystal Palace are actively searching for a new manager after Oliver Glasner announced he would leave the club at the end of the campaign.

Spanish sports publication Marca recently revealed that the Eagles have made a “millionaire offer” to Iraola to replace the successful Austrian at Selhurst Park, but will he accept?

Glasner criticised the Palace board for failing to boost the squad ahead of a European campaign and his ire increased when captain Marc Guehi was sold to Manchester City in January.

The sale of key players may set alarm bells ringing for Iraola, who is now 4/1 to end up in south London, up from 7/4.

Slot Under Pressure

Arne Slot delivered the Premier League title last season, but the current campaign has not been plain sailing.

Mohamed Salah’s dip in form and speculation about his future blighted a season also marred by defensive frailties.

The Reds were knocked out of the Champions League by PSG in April and although they are likely to be playing Champions League football next season, a trophyless campaign is certain.

That said, the Merseysiders are still six points clear of Bournemouth with three games remaining and they have a tricky run-in, so they are not guaranteed to be playing at Europe's top table.

Many believe the Dutchman is keeping the seat warm for the return of former midfielder Xabi Alonso, but the Fenway Sports Group, which owns the club, has reportedly been “impressed” by Iraola’s work on the south coast.

He is 5/1 to make the move to Anfield in the next few months.

Carrick Future Still Unclear At Old Trafford

Michael Carrick is the odds-on favourite to be appointed Manchester United head coach on a permanent basis, having guaranteed Champions League football for next season.

However, no announcement has been forthcoming from the Old Trafford hierarchy, so while doubt remains, tongues will continue to wag.

It is no surprise that Iraola is the second favourite for the United job, having never lost against the Red Devils in his three years at the Vitality Stadium, courtesy of two wins and four draws.

That is an impressive record against a decorated club like United, who are 6/1 to snap up Iraola.

Arbeloa Future Up In The Air

Alvaro Arbeloa is Real Madrid’s head coach for the time being, but it is unclear whether he will be in charge for the start of next season.

Some thought he had replaced Alonso until the end of the campaign, but there are reports his deal is much longer, possibly extending until 2027.

Whatever the scenario, Arbeloa has hardly convinced his superiors that he is the right man to lead Real Madrid, who will almost certainly finish second to arch rivals Barcelona in La Liga.

There is speculation that the rejuvenated Jose Mourinho could return to the club 13 years after he left the Bernabeu, so it appears Arbeloa's days are numbered.

Benfica have not lost a league game in Portugal under Mourinho this season and although they fell short of champions Porto, the Real Madrid board will have been impressed by their former manager's record.

The 15-time European champions may be a step too far for Iraola, who is 8/1 to move to the Spanish capital.

Elsewhere, speculation that Pep Guardiola could call time on his highly successful 10-year-spell at Manchester City means Iraola is in the running to replace him, although he is currently priced at 10/1.
