Arnold Palmer Invitational Betting Tips: 5 Panel Picks From Bay Hill

The PGA Tour stays in Florida for the third Signature Event of the season, the Arnold Palmer Invitational which has a stellar 72-man field.

Two-time champion Scottie Scheffler is a general 3/1 favourite on betting sites, though higher odds can be found, followed by 2018 champion Rory McIlroy, who is available at 10/1.

Last week, Nicolai Hojgaard (20/1) gave The Panel an each-way return with a share of sixth place at the Cognizant Classic in what was an ultimately disappointing set of tips for The Panel, who enjoyed great success at Bay Hill 12 months ago.

Russell Henley’s one-shot victory over Collin Morikawa ensured a 35/1 winner and Corey Conners paid out twice as an each-way selection in the first-round leader market (45/1) and then for a top-20 finish at 2/1.

Hopefully, the team will have similar success at the renewal which is the appetiser for next week’s Players Championship at Sawgrass.

Bay Hill is one of the toughest courses on the PGA Tour, a par-72 measuring 7,466 yards.

Although the fairways were widened and lengthened around 10 years ago, the backstop rough has been removed from water hazards and bunkers, so players have to be measured with their approach play.

The rough is high and the greens are fast, so this is a lay-out which will examine all aspects of a player’s game.

Elite players have tended to lift the trophy in recent years, but it should not be forgotten Kurt Kitayama won this tournament three years ago as a 200/1 shot.

Scheffler may well make it a hat-trick this week, but The Panel have picked out four Arnold Palmer Invitational betting tips at 40/1 or higher, plus a tasty first-round leader at a triple-figure price.

Arnold Palmer Invitational Betting Tips: Lowry Worth A Second Look

Those of you who watched Shane Lowry unravel at the 16th and 17th at PGA National on Sunday night will be wondering why he makes the cut this week.

The Irishman led by three shots with three to play but twice found water to miss out on a first PGA Tour title without a partner in 11 years (excluding the 2019 Open).

However, the Ryder Cup hero has been playing some excellent golf lately and Bay Hill is a venue where he has thrived in the last two years, finishing seventh last season, 12 months after he ended up six shots behind Scheffler in third spot.

Granted, this week’s field is vastly superior to what we witnessed at PGA National, but Lowry has finished no lower than T26 in his last eight tournaments, taking into account DP World Tour events.

Lowry’s Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and Putting numbers have been superb in the early part of the year and those skills could be key to success this week.

At 40/1 with several betting apps, Lowry gets the nod to atone for his Florida meltdown.

Arnold Palmer Invitational Tips: Coo D’Etat

Pierceson Coody’s grandfather won the 1971 US Masters and Augusta will certainly be on the mind of the American, who is just inside the world’s top 50 ahead of this week’s trip to Bay Hill.

Coody turned pro in 2022 and has yet to win on the PGA Tour, but the way he has played this year suggests he is not too far away from breaking his drought.

The 26-year-old Texan is fourth for Greens in Regulation, a measure which has featured high with the last three winners of this tournament (Henley second, Scheffler second and Kitayama first).

Strong in the SG: Tee-to-Green stats (12th), no player has shot more sub-par rounds than Coody in the first two months of the season.

Obviously, this stage is a step up for the American, but he was runner-up at Torrey Pines a few weeks ago, finished inside the top 10 at the Phoenix Open and played well at Riviera.

Coody is also 40/1 to win at this iconic course where he finished T14 in his one and only appearance three years ago.

Arnold Palmer Predictions: Hojgaard Deserves Another Chance

Nicolai Hojgaard played really well on Sunday for an each-way return and The Panel are back on board with the Dane at three times the price for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Admittedly, this week’s field is nowhere near last week’s standard, but had he avoided a triple at the second hole of the Phoenix Open in his final round, he may well have been looking at a maiden PGA Tour title.

Hojgaard is sixth in the SG: Tee-to-Green standings and is inside the top 40 for putting using the same metric.

He has missed the cut in his only two appearances at Bay Hill which may explain why he is 60/1 with BetMGM this week, but The Panel get the feeling he can end that run and contend on Sunday night.

Arnold Palmer Invitational Betting Tips: Get Behind Thee

The last of the outright tips is 80/1 shot Sahith Theegala, who has been playing some nice stuff in recent weeks.

Theegala is back inside the world’s top 100 on the back of some encouraging performances at The American Express (eighth), Farmers Insurance Open (seventh), Phoenix Open (18th) and the Genesis Invitational (22nd).

His visit to Riviera was his sixth successive tournament, so with a week off he should be nice and fresh for the challenge of Bay Hill.

Although he missed the cut last year, Theegala finished T14 in 2023 and shared sixth place 12 months later, so he has fond memories of this difficult track.

The 28-year-old Californian has been putting well this season and, if he can up the rest of his game, he could be a contender this week.

Arnold Palmer Invitational First-Round Leader Tips: Novak Can Go Low

The Panel are still dining out on Adam Schenk finishing inside the top 20 at Torrey Pines for a 20/1 winner, but not much appeals in that market this week.

Instead, The Panel are with Andrew Novak to finish as first-round leader at 110/1.

The American has been inside the top 10 on a Thursday in three of his last seven tournaments, which included a 65 at Pebble Beach earlier this month.

Novak also knows how to go low at Bay Hill, shooting a third-round 65 last year – the best of the day on his tournament debut.

It’s a speculative tip, but Novak has been making some fast starts lately and looks a decent prospect at a big price.
