Brendan Rodgers is no longer the manager of Celtic after a dramatic departure on Monday. 

Rodgers resigned following a 3-1 defeat by Hearts, which left the Hoops eight points adrift of top spot in the Scottish Premiership.

Martin O’Neill has been appointed as his replacement on an interim basis. He returns to Celtic Park two decades after his first spell in charge of the club, which yielded three league titles and five cup victories, came to an end.

Ireland Awaits For Rodgers?

The Republic of Ireland spent months finding a new manager following Stephen Kenny’s exit, eventually settling on Heimir Hallgrimsson. 

Results have been mixed at best under the former Iceland head coach, and if the boys in green fail to qualify for the World Cup play-offs, it could lead to another change of head coach.

At 5/4, the Republic of Ireland is the most likely next destination on betting apps for the man from County Antrim.

Much depends on whether or not Rodgers is interested in moving into international football and all it entails.

Marco Silva was recently linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, and although he remains Fulham manager for now, it is hard to shake the feeling that he is nearing the end at Craven Cottage. 

Silva has done a fine job in west London, restoring his reputation within English football, but this could be his last season with the Cottagers.

The club’s location in the capital could appeal to the ex-Celtic boss, but he would probably seek assurances over the owner’s ambitions before taking over.

Rodgers is priced at 4/1 to end up at Fulham.

Dramatic Reds Return?

Liverpool have lost four Premier League games in a row, and five of their last six outings in all competitions. 

Arne Slot’s job is not yet under threat, but football is a results business, and the Dutchman could be in trouble if Liverpool’s poor form continues over the coming weeks. 

The re-appointment of Rodgers would not go down well with some of the fan base, but stranger things have happened in this sport.

However, if the Whites were to fall out of form and begin to be troubled by the bottom three, they could consider making a change in the dugout.
