BTTS Tips: Football League Season Kicks Off With 9/1 Acca From The Panel

The Football League season gets under way in League One and Two this weekend, so it’s an ideal time to kick off the first of The Panel’s both teams to score tips.
The first match of the season comes on Friday when Luton take on Wimbledon, but this week’s column takes in matches from Saturday’s 3pm fixtures.
Combining all four games in a BTTS acca pays almost 9/1 on betting sites.
BTTS Tips: Burton Vs Mansfield
The Panel have picked out a fairly local League One clash between Burton and Mansfield as the first of their both teams to score predictions.
The Brewers escaped relegation from League One last season with a game to spare following a 1-1 draw at Wigan, but still only finished one point and a place above the bottom four.
Burton are expected to be in another dogfight this season, but Gary Bowyer’s side ended their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 victory over a strong Derby team at the weekend, having lost 2-1 to Sheffield United with the last kick of the game four days earlier.
New signing Jake Beesley has made a decent start with three goals in two games and hopefully he or one of his team-mates can get on the scoresheet against the Stags, who faded in the second half of last season.
Encouragingly, Nigel Clough’s men fought back from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Middlesbrough a couple of weeks ago which was the same scoreline when they met Burton at Field Mill at the start of last season.
The sides drew 1-1 at the Pirelli Stadium in March, so goals at both ends look a reasonable prospect in this curtain-raiser at 7/10 on football betting sites.

Both Teams To Score Acca: Wigan Vs Northampton
Wigan ended their League One campaign on an eight-game unbeaten run to finish in 15th place, but there is optimism they will do much better this season under Ryan Lowe.
The Latics were the lowest scorers in the third tier with just 40 goals, but they have brought in the prolific Paul Mullin from Wrexham on loan, with Christian Saydee and Dara Costelloe joining from Portsmouth and Burnley in a bid to solve their scoring problems.
Wigan scored in all five pre-season games and while it’s hard to read anything into friendlies, this looks like a team that are going to be playing on the front foot.
Northampton only scored eight goals more than Wigan last season and although they found the net just once in their first four friendlies, they signed off with a 3-0 victory over a youthful Birmingham team at the weekend.
All four matches between these teams over the last two seasons have involved goals at both ends, so this match stands out at 21/20 with betting apps for a fifth.

Both Teams To Score Acca: Walsall Vs Swindon
The Panel’s next two BTTS tips come from League Two and start with a team still shuddering from last season’s capitulation.
Walsall held a 12-point lead at one stage, but a 13-game winless streak saw them finish in the play-offs and their campaign ended in heartache with a 1-0 defeat by AFC Wimbledon in the final.
The Saddlers will start without their first-choice centre-backs from last season, with David Okagbue and Taylor Allen joining League One outfits Peterborough and Wycombe respectively, while Harry Williams could be out for the whole campaign with an Achilles injury.
That will be music to the ears of Swindon who had the joint-best both teams to score record in League Two last season.
Despite being bottom in December, the Robins finished just inside the top half of the table, yet only three teams scored more than Ian Holloway’s side, which was also pretty leaky at the back.
Up front, Billy Bodin is back at the County Ground, and Jake Tabor hopes to bring his prolific form with Amersham into the Football League.
It could be a goal-laden start to the season at the Bescot Stadium where Walsall had a division-leading 71% BTTS record in the 2024/25 campaign, one of the reasons why The Panel are on board this match at 8/11 with Coral.
The Panel's BTTS Tips 3: Walsall Vs Swindon - 8/11 With Coral
BTTS Acca: Grimsby Vs Crawley
The last of Saturday’s BTTS predictions involves Grimsby and Crawley which can be backed at 8/13 with Betfred.
Grimsby were the fourth best BTTS performers in the 2024/25 League Two campaign, but are expected to have a tough afternoon against a Crawley team that ended last season strongly despite being relegated from League One.
The Mariners scored and conceded in five of their last six pre-season friendlies, including a 3-2 victory over League One side Peterborough, so the signs are ominous for Saturday.
Crawley netted exactly five goals in three successive matches against non-league opposition in July, but were outclassed by Crystal Palace in a 3-0 defeat in their final outing.
Fans are optimistic an immediate return to the third tier is on the cards, but The Panel are keeping their fingers crossed that their defence will have at least one momentary lapse this weekend.
The Panel's BTTS Tips 4: Grimsby Vs Crawley - 8/13 With Betfred
* An acca on Saturday's BTTS tips is priced at almost 9/1 with Coral.
