Celebrity Race Across The World 2025 Odds: Anita Rani And Dad Bal Favourites

Celebrity Race Across The World got off to a speedy start on Thursday night, and one pairing has leaped to the front on betting sites after opening up an early lead on their fellow competitors. 

Broadcaster Anita Rani and her father Balvinder Singh Nazran are the ones to beat for now, but there is plenty of travelling to come. 

The pair are joined by actor Dylan Llewellyn and his mum, Jackie; DJ Tyler West and his actor/singer partner Molly Rainford; and broadcaster Roman Kemp and his sister, singer-songwriter Harleymoon, on the epic BBC show.

They are tasked with travelling 5,900km on a budget and without phones, or the use of a plane, from the idyllic Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres to Colombia's Peninsula de La Guajira. 

For the first leg of the journey, the quartet travelled 1,100km from Isla Mujeres to Flores Peten in Guatemala - and one team didn't mess around. 

'Determined' Anita On Top Early On 

Anita began the episode by admitting she was "determined" to win the star-studded series, and she and father Bal certainly understood the "race" part of the show title in episode one.

The pair boarded an overnight bus towards Belize, which put them in front early on, and they didn't look back.

Upon realising they had reached the checkpoint in first place, Anita admitted she couldn't believe it, but also "could believe it", and said their decisiveness had played a huge part in their strong start. 

Anita and Bal have an impressive 23-hour and 16-minute lead over second-placed Roman and Harleymoon, but they have vowed not to get complacent.

It's still early days in the race and such leads have been pegged back on the show before.

Anita is also determined for her dad to have an adventure during the series, so they won't always be in race mode.

And in the teaser for episode two, Anita was heard asking: "Is the race over for us?"

But for now, Anita and Bal are 5/4 favourites on entertainment betting sites to win this year's Celebrity Race Across the World.

Roman And Harleymoon's Bus Breakdown 

Roman and Harleymoon are next in the outright market on betting apps, at 2/1, followed by couple Molly and Tyler (5/2). 

After making their way to Cancun, siblings Roman and Harleymoon were the first pairing to leave the party place. 

Later on, they seemed to have scored a huge piece of luck when they came across a £49 bus that was due to take them 360km to the checkpoint. 

Roman reckoned it could have given them a 12 or even 24-hour boost in the race.

The pair had to make a quick bus transfer in Belize City, but were left cursing their luck when the new bus broke down as soon as it left the car park.

Roman said he knew it was "too good to be true", but the siblings were still pleased to be in second place at this early stage. 

Molly and Tyler are just one hour and 40 minutes behind the brother and sister pairing. 

They didn't hurry to get off the island at first, instead deciding to stop off for a meeting to plan their route.

Molly and Tyler were celebrating their anniversary on the first night, and while EastEnders star Molly was keen for them to spend it partying in Cancun, they ended up splashing out nearly £90 on an overnight bus to travel further down the country. 

Their first episode was summed up well when they had a lie-in on the final day of the leg, and admitted that probably cost them second place.

Dylan And Jackie's 'Fighting Spirit' 

Derry Girls star Dylan and his mother Jackie joked at the beginning of the episode that there is "no pressure" on them, because "no one" thinks they will win the series. 

However, Jackie insisted the mother and son team have a "fighting spirit". 

They didn't get off to a great start after spending some precious minutes trying to locate their map, and the pair both admitted they "don't like speaking to strangers", which could be a huge negative during the race. 

However, they weren't afraid to splash out on the budget now and again, including forking out nearly £27 on a taco meal, and they also spent big on two train journeys.

At one point, viewers were in hysterics when Dylan and Jackie tried to go to a Mexican hospital for a night's accommodation after a lost-in-translation moment. 

The pair weren't surprised to find out they are fourth, but were pleased they weren't "that far away" from the chasing pack.

Dylan and Jackie are six hours and 20 minutes off second-place Roman and Harleymoon, but a massive 29 hours and 36 minutes away from leaders Anita and Bal.

As a result, they are propping up the outright market at 6/1, and they have a lot of catching up to do already.
