Cheltenham Day 3 Handicap Tips With Extra Each-Way Places

We enter the second half of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival on Thursday, with a further seven races taking place on Day 3 of the meeting.

The Ryanair Chase and Stayers’ Hurdle are the highest-profile encounters although there are no less than four handicap races that also take pride of place on the racecard.

This includes a new race in the form of the Jack Richards Novices' Limited Handicap Chase where a big field is guaranteed, while the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle follows hard on the heels of this encounter.

The third day of Cheltenham racing also ends with two handicap races, with the Plate Handicap Chase and Kim Muir Challenge Cup giving customers the chance to benefit from extra each-way places.

Best Cheltenham 2025 Offers:

Jack Richards Novices' Limited Handicap Chase – 14:00

A new race at the Festival gives customers the chance to throw an each-way dart or two in a race where there’s likely to be the maximum 20 runners lining up.

It’s likely that we’ll see five or six places created for each-way bettors and it’s a wide open market.

Nurburgring looks set to go off as favourite with JJ Slevin due to ride for Joseph O’Brien. Meanwhile, Asian Master and Firefox are also trading at single figure prices with betting sites.

This 2m 4½ furlong encounter looks almost certain to see some big-priced horses hit the frame and the majority of the field are in with an outside chance.

Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle – 14:40

There’s a real test of stamina when it comes to the Pertemps and a chance to land some each-way winnings on a handicap race before the excitement of the Ryanair and Stayers' Hurdle on Thursday.

Jeriko Du Reponet has been installed as the favourite although punters might go in search of a bigger priced selection on horse racing betting sites, especially as there are going to be lots of places for each-way bettors considering that 24 horses are going hammer and tongs in this encounter.

Will The Wise and Win Some Lose Some are among the favourites, with Feet Of A Dancer and D Art D Art other six-year-olds not without a chance of success.

The penultimate race on Day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival will have a maximum of 24 runners going to post and the fact that they’re going 8/1 the field means that betting apps will be keen to provide lots of extra each-way places on a wide open race.

Jagwar is one of the horses to emerge at the head of the market, with Gavin Cromwell’s Thecompanysergeant and Jordans for Joseph O’Brien both entered in the race and they are capable of hitting the frame.

This race is run over 2m 4½f, with customers likely to benefit from at least six places when they wager at Cheltenham Festival betting sites.

Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Jockeys' Handicap Chase – 17:20

The final race on Day 3 is run over 3m 2f, with amateur jockeys on board the runners and it’s Johnnywho who is the favourite to win, although every other runner is priced at 13/2 or bigger at the time of writing.

There are 24 runners battling it out over 22 fences and not every horse will last the course, with bettors looking to make an each-way selection which will give them a run for their money.

Midnight Our Fred, Sa Majeste and Walking On Air are among the contenders worthy of consideration, while it’s also worth looking out for which amateur jockeys are booked for each horse.
