CorrieDale Odds: Corrie's David And Debbie Could Perish In Crossover Episode

Coronation Street and Emmerdale's hotly-anticipated and brilliantly-named crossover episode CorrieDale is just days away, and speculation is rife on betting sites about which character might meet their makeover in the soap spectacular.

At least one character death is expected to play out in the historic special, which will see the two ITV soaps merge together for the first time, but bosses are keeping details to a minimum ahead of the one-hour episode at 8pm on January 5.

Robron's Revenge

One thing viewers do know is that evil John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) will be returning for the crossover episode, and a recent trailer revealed some after-effects of a multi-car pileup following a catastrophic crash.

John's return will no doubt spell bad news for his ex-husband, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), and his recently reunited significant other, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley).

The crossover episode would be a fitting way to end John's time in the Dales, because it would be tough to see him happily carrying on his life in the village afterwards.

And it would be a soap villain's cop-out to send him to prison.

John is 5/4 favourite on entertainment betting sites to meet his maker in CorrieDale, while Aaron and Robert are 10/3 and 7/2 respectively.

Another Emmerdale villain could also perish in the special episode.

Ray Walters - who is portrayed by Joe Absolom - is just 6/4 for the chop.

Some Dales viewers even believe there have been hints pointing towards a passing for Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), after he was left some money and got married.

There aren't usually too many happy ever afters in Soapland, and Jacob is 15/8 to be bumped off in the crossover episode.

David's Demise?

Some soap super-fans believe CorrieDale will only work if there is a big-name character death - and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has been tipped to perish.

The latest trailer saw David's pregnant wife, Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), in hospital, screaming and being comforted by another expectant mother, Emmerdale's Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).

Was Shona screaming in emotional pain because of David's demise? Or could she also be injured and perish?

Several Corrie viewers have vowed to stop watching the soap if David dies, and he is 13/8 on betting apps to do so, while Shona is a bigger 3/1 shot.

Like David, another Corrie veteran is also thought to be in the frame to die.

Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) was previously announced as one of the Coronation Street characters in the crossover, and some fans fear she won't make it out alive.

She is just 2/1 to exit in CorrieDale, but perhaps someone who is known to be leaving Weatherfield might go instead.

Corrie's Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) are both due to depart the Street, but it's not known if their exits are part of the upcoming soap spectacular.

They are 11/8 and 5/2, respectively, to meet their makers in CorrieDale.

Jai Who?

One fitting demise would be if Emmerdale's Jai Sharma were to pass away in the crossover episode, because Chris Bisson, who plays the character, previously appeared in Coronation Street as Vikram Desai.

Some fans believe Jai could be on his way out because he hasn't had a major storyline of late, and it's not clear what part he will play in CorrieDale - other than be a sacrificial Emmerdale lamb in the soap special.

Jai is 11/4 to perish, but his departure wouldn't be as shocking as some.

Corrie icon William Roache is in the Guinness World Records for being the longest-serving television actor in a continuous role, after appearing as Corrie's Ken Barlow since the soap's first-ever episode in December 1960.

While Ken would no doubt go out with a bang if he were axed in CorrieDale, it is 12/1 for the legendary cobbles character to depart the soap in January.

Elsewhere, Emmerdale's Eric Pollard (Christopher Chittell) is 10/1, and Charity and Cain Dingle - portrayed by Emma Atkins and Jeff Hordley - are 8/1 and 6/1 respectively.
