Defending champions England are third favourites at 11/2 with BetMGM to win successive titles and have been boosted by the return of Jofra Archer, although the absence of Ben Stokes following his withdrawal from selection could cast a large shadow on their hopes.
After their triumph in the 50-over World Cup in India last year, Australia are also strong contenders for the crown.
The Baggy Greens won their first World T20 title in 2021 before failing to reach the knockout stage a year later.

Can India Rise To The Occasion?
India have been the big underachievers in white-ball cricket over the last decade.
Despite boasting the best T20 competition in the world and some of the finest players to play the game, India have failed to win the World T20 since the inaugural tournament 17 years ago.
In the last iteration of the tournament, India suffered a humiliating 10-wicket semi-final defeat by England.
Sharma and his men endured further disappointment in the 50-over World Cup at the end of last year when they were hammered by Australia in the final on home soil. They have a point to prove in the United States.
The two stars of the India line-up, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, enter the World T20 on the back of outstanding IPL seasons.

Kohli won the Orange Cap for scoring an incredible 741 runs in the competition, while Bumrah was narrowly off the pace for the Purple Cap, taking 20 wickets, four below Harshal Patel’s leading mark.
Despite their impressive seasons, neither Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore nor Bumrah’s Mumbai Indians won the IPL. Even though India have always been stacked with talent entering these tournaments the pressure has always been too much for them to overcome.
With the experience and nous of England and Australia in the reckoning, we’re not convinced by India’s price of 14/5 with QuinnBet to win the competition.
History is against them. Tired bodies and minds could also enter the equation.
Defending Champions To Repeat?
England’s defence of their 50-over World Cup crown could not have gone worse. Jos Buttler’s men were eliminated before the knockout stage after losing six of their nine group matches.
Therefore, the pressure is on both Buttler and coach Matthew Mott to atone for their poor effort in 2023. However, they enter the tournament without Stokes, who has opted to remain in England to prepare for the Test summer.
Stokes’ performance in the final against Pakistan in 2022 was crucial in driving England over the line.
England will miss his cool presence under pressure. Pace bowler Archer’s return will be key to an attack that looked substandard in India during the 50-over competition.
With Buttler, Harry Brook, Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow in the batting ranks, England have power aplenty to amass big scores and give the front line bowling attack every chance of restraining the opposition.

Beware Australia
Australia showed their killer instinct to win the 50-over World Cup.
The Aussies were in danger of a premature exit but dug deep during the group stage courtesy of incredible individual performances from Glenn Maxwell, among others, to advance to the knockout phase.

Steve Smith has paid the price for his underwhelming T20 displays, allowing the Aussies to bolster their batting line-up with raw power rather than guile.
Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins will lead the bowling attack fresh off impressive displays in the IPL, while Adam Zampa was one of the standout performers at the 50-over World Cup.

Best Of The Rest
South Africa were extremely impressive in the 50-over World Cup group stage, but their typical failings under pressure in the semi-finals denied them a first title.
Given their history of cracking under the spotlight, we’re not inclined to consider them to secure their first major white-ball triumph even with a talented side.
New Zealand fall under the same category as the Proteas.
The Black Caps continued to punch above their weight, but their failure to win the big game, losing two white-ball finals in a row in 2019 and 2021 and then crashing out in the semi-finals in their last two competitions, is a red flag for their prospects as far as The Panel is concerned.
The West Indies could be a dark horse due to the number of specialists in their ranks and are worth a look at 9/1 on cricket betting sites.
We will be closely monitoring their early games to see if they can gain some crucial momentum.
