David Benavidez Vs Anthony Yarde Betting Preview

WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez, 30-0 (24KOs), makes the first defence of his title in the early hours of Sunday morning, as he takes on Britain’s Anthony Yarde at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Benavidez, the unbeaten American, steps out for just his third bout at 175lbs since moving up in 2024 and enters as an overwhelming favourite on betting sites to retain his belt.

For Yarde, this marks a third shot at becoming a world champion, an opportunity that will demand a career-best performance if he’s to finally get his hands on a world title.

David Benavidez Vs Anthony Yarde Boxing Tips:

Expect The Rounds To Fly By

On paper, this fight has all the ingredients to be a fierce battle, as both are aggressive, come-forward fighters who like to let their hands go.

Benavidez enters as the favourite on betting apps, but despite his 80% knockout ratio, the majority came at 168lbs, and he is relatively untested at light heavyweight.

Yarde, on the other hand, is a bona fide 175lbs fighter who has pushed both Sergey Kovalev and Artur Beterbiev, despite coming up short on both occasions.

The London-born boxer’s heart is irrefutable, and the only man to ever stop him before the ninth round was none other than pound-for-pound great Beterbiev.

The work rate of Benavidez is expected to be much higher than Yarde's, and I expect him to be outpunched in the first half of the fight.

If the American doesn’t see the Brit wilt, then fatigue may level the playing field.

Given the prize at stake, we expect both fighters to give it their absolute all and take this into the later rounds.

William Hill price of Evens for the bout to go over 9.5 rounds looks to be the play.

Benavidez To Dominate To The Very End

Yarde has gone the distance in his last two fights, while Benavidez has also seen the final bell in both of his bouts since moving up to light heavyweight.

Benavidez’s dominance stems from his relentless speed.

The key for the American will be to stay disciplined and to avoid the temptation to overcommit in search of a first knockout at 175lbs.

Outright Win Market

It is no secret that Yarde is a heavy hitter, and if he finds an opening, the fight could shift in an instant.

Despite his lack of experience at this weight, Benavidez is a world-class operator who knows better than to force shots against an opponent with this kind of power.

Expect Benavidez to use his height and reach advantage to control the distance, dictate the tempo and secure a convincing unanimous decision victory.
