Elite Competitions Hires Bet365 Compliance Lead Peter Lynas

Lynas spent almost five years on Bet365’s compliance team, one of the world’s largest online betting sites and gaming operators. 

In that role, he led the company-wide GLI-33 certification programme, a testing standard used by most US states as part of their regulatory requirements for sports betting, including a business review and subsequent certification. 

Elite Competitions intends to apply that experience across its own compliance operations as it scales.

"My experience at Bet365 has given me real insight into the importance of effective compliance frameworks, customer protection and operating responsibly within a highly regulated environment."

Prize draw and competition operators run paid-entry draws for cars, cash and other prizes without holding a gambling licence, a model that has drawn growing attention from regulators and consumer groups. 

The appointment follows the introduction of a voluntary code for the sector earlier in 2026, and Elite Competitions has framed the hire as evidence of its commitment to responsible operation. 

The company, founded by Beckett and known for its 2018 appearance on BBC Two’s Dragons’ Den, said the move reflects an ambition to bring senior expertise across the business to support long-term growth.

Hiring a senior compliance figure from a tier-one operator such as Bet365 signals that the fast-growing competition sector expects closer regulatory scrutiny and wants to get ahead of it. 

For the wider industry, it is a reminder that experienced compliance talent is in demand well beyond the licensed online casino sites and betting operators, as adjacent sectors work to demonstrate the same standards of customer protection.
