Emmerdale Odds: Legendary Character Tipped For Return To Save Robert And Andy

Evil John Sugden has been causing chaos in the Dales of late, but a familiar face could be coming to the rescue soon. 

There has been plenty of speculation on betting sites recently about potential Emmerdale returnees, including Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden). 

Robert Sugden has even returned, after Ryan Hawley reprised his role, and it looked like he would be the one to take down his brother John (Oliver Farnworth) - but he might need some sibling assistance. 

Sugden The Saviour 

Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) has been heavily linked with a Dales return, and it would be a timely one for his brother Robert. 

John has had several secrets up his sleeve since he rocked up in the village last year. 

Viewers are well aware that John bumped off Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), but the villagers are not. 

Robert looks determined to uncover John's evil scheming and expose his past crimes. He also wants to reconcile with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), whom John recently married. 

Emmerdale Odds: Who Will Return In 2025? 

Kelvin and Ryan had great chemistry as warring Sugden brothers, and it would be the ultimate soap comeback if Andy returned to help save his sibling. 

He last appeared in the village in August 2016, when Kelvin bowed out of the role after 20 years. 

Since then, the actor has swapped portraying farmer Andy for being a farmer in real life, landing a TV show with his wife and kids, Fletchers' Family Farm.

He also won the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing and is 1/2 on betting apps to waltz back into the Dales to save the day.

Val's Dreamy Return 

A year before Kelvin's final scenes as Andy, Charlie Hardwick was shooting her last segments as Val Pollard. 

The comical character was killed off in a nasty way when she was trapped in a hall of mirrors, following a helicopter crash. 

Val succumbed to one of the mirrors falling on her, and her exit came 11 years after she had entered the village as the sister of Robert and Andy's stepmother Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen).

The feisty and hilarious character was married to Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell), and it's thought she could return soon as part of one of Eric's dreams. 

Eric has been struggling with his health of late, after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2023, and some fans have morbidly predicted the end could be sooner rather than later for the character. 

Val is just 7/4 to return as a figment of Eric's imagination - and it wouldn't be the first time she has returned as a hallucination. 

On Christmas Day 2017, Charlie briefly reprised her role as Val appeared as a ghost in Robert's dream. 

Bernice Heading Back 

Other characters who have been linked to Dales comebacks include Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles). 

A source recently told The Sun newspaper: "Everything is being kept very hush-hush, but of course Bernice’s return is a big deal as one of the soap’s most loved characters.

"And Samantha being back among the cast is a real win too, as everyone loves working with her."

Samantha is just 4/7 to head back to the village later this year, and it's 8/11 that David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) also makes an Emmerdale comeback in 2025. 

Matthew's real-life ex, Charley Webb, who played Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap, is just 11/10 to return.
