Emmerdale Odds: Robert Sugden New Favourite To Bump Off Half-Brother John

A chaotic Emmerdale love triangle could be set for a gruesome end in the coming days, as twisted John Sugden's evil antics finally look set to be uncovered.
It's known Oliver Farnworth, who portrays the killer, is to depart the Dales and speculation about how the calculated character might leave Emmerdale has intensified on betting sites.
Spoiler alert - in Thursday night's Emmerdale episode, John spikes his husband Aaron Dingle's (Danny Miller) whisky after learning he had an affair with his ex, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley).
Some villagers are finally realising John's true colours, after he murdered Aaron's cousin, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), and disposed of Anthony Fox's (Nicholas Day) dead body.
He was also responsible for Aaron's mother Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) overdosing, and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) suffering an anaphylactic shock.
In the latest episode, John is holding villager Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) captive in a bomb shelter, but things escalate when he tries to escape - leaving Mack and Aaron in huge danger.
Emmerdale Odds: How Will John Sugden Leave The Village?
Departure | Odds | Probability |
Robert Kills John | Evens | 50% |
In A Police Car/Sent To Prison | 6/4 | 40% |
Aaron Kills John | 2/1 | 33.3% |
Flees The Village Without Aaron | 5/2 | 28.6% |
Cain Kills John | 3/1 | 25% |
Another Villager Kills John | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Anthony Fox Takes Revenge On John | 7/1 | 12.5% |
Flees The Village With Aaron | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Robert's Revenge
While John could flee the village to avoid any comeuppance for his long list of crimes, Emmerdale superfans may feel cheated of an explosive ending for such a brutal character.
Soap villains do not have a long shelf life and it seems almost unthinkable that John will continue to get away with his misdemeanours.
Beforehand, Robert is set to try to save Aaron from John's evil clutches, only for the pair to grapple and Robert to be left lifeless on the ground.
Aaron tries to make his escape from his horrific hubby, but the pair come face-to-face on the edge of a gorge.
After phoning the police to frame Robert, John then makes the drastic decision to jump into the gorge with his arms around Aaron.
With both left motionless, Robert calls an ambulance, but none of the villagers believe his claims about John - and Chas vows to make Robert pay, assuming he pushed the pair off the cliff.
Robert will be determined to avoid another prison stint, especially for a crime he did not commit, but could his anger towards John send him over the edge?
It is now Evens favourite on betting apps that Robert kills John and it's 2/1 that Aaron bumps him off instead.
If either do send John to his grave and manage to get away with the crime, it would leave a path clear for Robron to reunite.
Banged Up
John's latest antics have resulted in the police becoming involved, meaning they could soon catch up with him and his wicked ways.
It is just 6/4 that John departs the Dales in the back of a police car, or if he is last seen being banged up in jail.
Despite that, the police in Soapland aren't always the most thorough when it comes to probing for evidence and it would not be a huge surprise if John continued to get away with his crimes.
He is now 5/2 to flee the village, without his husband, and it's a massive 10/1 for John and Aaron to leave together.
With Aaron becoming more aware of his husband's evil escapades, it looks incredibly unlikely that he will be willing to flee the village with him.
A more likely destination for John is six feet under - but if Aaron and Robert do not dispatch him, then who will?
Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is just 3/1 to do the deed, and this could well shorten if he discovers John was behind his son Nate's death.
However, it is just 5/1 that another villager kills him, and Aaron's mum Chas could be in contention, while it is 7/1 that Anthony Fox is revealed to be alive and takes his revenge on John.
John's Secret Identity
While Emmerdale fans have an exciting week of episodes in store, another fan theory could also be revealed.
Some Dales superfans have become convinced that John is not really a Sugden (4/7).
The character's crimes, or at least some of them, will surely be revealed in his upcoming final moments, and it would be fitting if viewers discover John isn't the son of iconic Dales character Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby).
Emmerdale Odds: Is John Really A Sugden?
No | Yes |
4/7 | 7/4 |
One theory is John took his dead brother's identity documents.
Another is that he turns out to be Coronation Street's Andy Carver, which could pave the way for actor Oliver to pop up in the upcoming Coronation Street-Emmerdale crossover episode.
However, this seems extremely unlikely seeing as Andy was murdered by Corrie serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).
