England vs Denmark Predictions:

England will bid to seize control of their Women’s World Cup group when they take on Denmark at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

UK betting sites have installed the Lionesses as the 2/5 favourites to beat their European rivals in this match, which kicks off at 9.30am on Friday in the UK.

Both teams are level on three points apiece at the top of Group D after winning their opening games at this competition.

England battled to a nervy 1-0 victory over Haiti courtesy of Georgia Stanway’s retaken penalty, while the Danes snatched a 1-0 win against China.

They will now fight it out for supremacy in this group, and the odds suggest that England will come out on top.

However, the Lionesses will need to display a lot more composure in possession than they did against Haiti if they are to win this Women’s World Cup game.

England Should Secure A Narrow Victory

England should have enough quality within their ranks to secure a narrow victory over Denmark in this game.

They are the reigning European champions after sweeping their continental rivals aside last summer, and they also breezed through their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 100% record.

We do not have any useful head-to-head data between the teams to go on, but it is worth noting that Denmark lost 4-0 to Germany in the group stage at Euro 2022 and failed to make the knockout stage of the tournament.

Meanwhile, England beat Germany in the final to secure their first major trophy, and they are now fourth in the FIFA world rankings, nine places ahead of the Danes.

Denmark looked strong in qualifying, but they have a poor record at the World Cup. This is the first time they have qualified for the tournament since 2007, and they have not been past the group stage since 1995.

They have played 15 previous World Cup games, with four wins, one draw and 10 defeats, and they are 100/1 outsiders with Bet365 to lift the trophy this year.

England have drifted out to 13/2 following their slightly lacklustre performance against Haiti, but they should remind everyone of their quality by edging this game.

It is unlikely to be a high-scoring clash, so most UK bookmakers are offering a mere 2/9 on under 3.5 goals.

Combining an England win with under 3.5 goals takes the cumulative odds to an appealing 5/6 with Coral.

That covers you in the event of England winning 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 - the three most likely outcomes, according to the correct score markets - so it is a tempting price.

Tip: England To Win & Under 3.5 Goals - 5/6 With Coral

Back Alessia Russo To Open Her Account

England manager Sarah Wiegmann was faced with a dilemma ahead of this tournament, as Alessia Russo and Rachel Daly were vying to lead the line for the Lionesses.

Both players were in fine form last season, and both made a compelling case to replace the retired Ellen White as England’s first-choice striker.

In the end, Wiegmann opted to start Russo - who recently earned a move from Man Utd to Arsenal - as the focal point in attack against Haiti.

She had a quiet game, but the manager is now likely to persist with Russo up front against Denmark, leaving Daly on the bench.

Russo has 11 goals in 23 games for England - including four at the Euros last summer - and it is rare for her to go consecutive games without finding the back of the net.

The Lionesses are clearly missing the creative talents of the injured Beth Mead, but the likes of Lauren Hemp, Chloe Kelly and Lauren James should provide Russo with some presentable chances against Denmark.

She is priced at 9/5 with football betting sites to score in this game, and that looks like an attractive price on a player that will be desperate to repay the manager’s faith in her.

Tip: Alessia Russo To Score - 9/5 With William Hill

Corners Markets Look Appealing On This Game

England like to build up their attacks from wide areas, with the likes of Lucy Bronze and Ella Toone overlapping down the flanks.

They fire lots of balls into the box over the course of a typical match, which normally sees them rack up plenty of corners.

They had seven corners against Haiti last time out, 13 against Portugal in their previous game and nine against Australia in their prior match.

Denmark play with an identical 4-3-3 formation, and they also have quality in wide areas, so they earned six corners against China.

As such, we should see plenty of set pieces in this game, and odds of 8/11 at BetVictor on each team to have at least one corner in either half look appealing.

Tip: Both Teams To Take One Or More Corners In Both Halves - 8/11 With BetVictor
