Enzo Fernandez Next Club Odds: Bayern Munich Favourites To Buy Him
Enzo Fernandez scored a stunning free-kick on Wednesday night, but betting sites still believe he could leave Chelsea in the summer.
The Argentina international has endured a difficult first 12 months at Stamford Bridge.
Signed for a three-figure sum in January 2023, Fernandez has had his moments but is yet to live up to expectations.
A report by Football Transfers earlier this week stated that the midfielder is considering a departure from the Blues in the summer.
The story adds that Uriel Perez, the player’s agent, has started to sound out potential buyers.
Where might Fernandez end up? Let’s take a look at the latest betting odds, before we analyse his situation.
Bayern And PSG The Leading Contenders To Land Fernandez
Bayern Munich are the 6/4 favourites to sign Fernandez with football betting sites.
It is no secret that Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring in another midfielder.
He tried to sign Joao Palhinha last summer, only for the deal to collapse at the eleventh hour.
Bayern are expected to return for the Portugal international at the end of the current campaign, but Fernandez could be explored as an alternative.
Paris Saint-Germain are another side that will be eyeing midfield reinforcements in the coming months.
Moreover, the French giants will want to make a few statements of intent in the market if Kylian Mbappe joins Real Madrid as expected, and PSG can be backed at 2/1 to sign the Argentinian.
Atletico Madrid Could Make Move But Chelsea Stay Possible
Atletico Madrid are next on the list at 11/4. Diego Simeone’s side will almost certainly be playing in the Champions League next term, so they would have plenty to offer to prospective signings.
Fernandez may also be attracted by the idea of playing in Spain, although Real Madrid and Barcelona are bigger draws than Atletico.
Do not rule out an extended Chelsea stay, however, an option which is priced at 3/1.
After his impressive performance in the 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in an FA Cup tie on Wednesday, Fernandez’s agent affirmed that his client “has no intention of leaving”.
That sort of comment should always be taken with a pinch of salt, but it is worth remembering that the midfielder is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2031.
Chelsea will surely not be willing to cut their losses just yet, especially as they would struggle to break even on a player on whom they splashed out £107m just last year.
Newcastle And Manchester United Among The Dark Horses
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be willing to sell Fernandez to a domestic rival.
If they did decide to sanction his departure, they would probably prefer to see the World Cup winner move to a non-Premier League side.
Even so, Newcastle United are given a 9/2 shot of landing the 23-year-old.
The Magpies will be looking to strengthen their squad in all areas after a difficult season in 2023/24, and Fernandez would add to their midfield options.
Manchester United will also be looking ahead to the summer now that INEOS is in charge of recruitment.
They can be backed at 5/1 with betting apps to sign Fernandez, although whether they would be willing to meet Chelsea’s likely high asking price remains to be seen.
The Red Devils will probably look to bolster their attack first and foremost, but they could also do with additional options in the centre of the park.
Could Barcelona Or Manchester City Pursue Move For Midfielder?
Barcelona have plenty of work to do this summer. Their first job is to appoint a successor to Xavi Hernandez, who has already announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season.
Whoever takes charge will ask for the squad to be improved, including in midfield.
Barcelona have not been the most financially prudent club in recent years, so we cannot rule out them making a crazy offer for Fernandez.
But odds of 8/1 with new betting sites indicate that the Catalan outfit are outsiders as things stand.
Manchester City were linked with the midfielder before he ultimately opted to join Chelsea in 2023.
With Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic having only played bit-part roles so far this season, Pep Guardiola may be interested in signing another engine-room operator. However, City are priced at 10/1 to sign Fernandez.
