Andy Brassell's Weekend Football Tips Including Chelsea Vs Newcastle

European football expert Andy Brassell is back to share his three best selections for this weekend's action across Europe's top leagues.

As always, Andy will provide a fourth selection exclusively for Gambling.com account holders, using the latest odds from Grosvenor.

Last week, Andy was one goal away from his 19/1 treble landing after correcting predicting how Wrexham's FA Cup tie with Chelsea would pan out in 90 minutes, as well as the Milan derby on Sunday night.

Andy has been a writer and broadcaster on European football for 20 years, featuring on TalkSPORT, On The Continent, The Guardian, Sky Sports and TNT Sports.

Chelsea Vs Newcastle, Saturday 5.30pm

That this is right in the middle of a two-legged Champions League last-16 tie for both could affect the way this will roll out.

Perhaps, though, it will be a little different to what we expected, particularly after a week in which only Newcastle and Arsenal avoided defeat amongst the Premier League’s six participants.

Despite the three-goal deficit they face against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea won’t feel completely hopeless ahead of the return so may accordingly make a few changes.

The away side definitely will given the remote possibility of them reaching the top four/five (or maybe European football at all), so they’ll want to have a go at Camp Nou.

For this one, Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade, both with much to prove, are potentially impactful stand-ins.

Andy Brassell's Weekend Tips:

Hamburg Vs Cologne, Saturday 5.30pm

The Bundesliga relegation battle is getting tight, with just one point covering 12th to 16th, the latter being third-bottom and the relegation play-off place.

Hamburg, fortunately for them, are just above that and got a vital, Luka Vuskovic-inspired win at Wolfsburg last week, meaning another this weekend would make them almost safe.

On the other hand, Lukas Kwasniok’s team, after a great start to the campaign, have lost four of the last five, and even if the performances haven’t been without merit, the statistical malaise goes back further.

Narrow home victories over fellow strugglers Mainz and Wolfsburg are the only games Cologne have won since early November, a stretch of 16 games.

Como Vs Roma, Sunday 5pm

Nobody saw it coming, but this is a huge face-off for Champions League qualification, with the two teams level on points and Como in the top four right now, where Roma are desperate to be.

Cesc Fabregas’ team have just reeled off three successive wins, a run which began with an away victory at Juventus, and are playing without pressure.

Meanwhile, the capital club might feel they should be on the way to being home and hosed already, but they lost at club legend Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa last week having let a 3-1 lead slip late on against Juventus, another direct rival, the week before.

Roma have not quite found the fluency they hope to eventually attain yet under Gian Piero Gasperini but Como, it seems, are quite the opposite, and could be set to spring a big surprise.
