Andy Brassell's Weekend Football Tips Including West Ham Vs Liverpool

The domestic leagues return after the third international break of the season, and European football expert Andy Brassell is back to share his three best selections for this weekend's action.
As always, Andy will provide a fourth selection exclusively for Gambling.com account holders, using the latest odds from Grosvenor.

Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Dortmund 5.30pm
Both of these two are coming off great midweek Champions League wins, after a rare week in which Bayern Munich were not required to do the heavy lifting on the Bundesliga’s behalf.
The difference was that Leverkusen’s win was a real shock, as Kasper Hjulmand’s team of almost perfect strangers (only four who started the win at Manchester City were at the club before the summer) gave a coherent, mature performance against vaunted opposition.

They and Dortmund are direct rivals for the top four with third playing fourth here and remarkably this all-new Leverkusen are the higher of the two.
Their only Bundesliga loss since Erik Ten Hag was sacked was at Bayern, while wobbling Dortmund’s win over Villarreal was their first in nearly a month.

Real Sociedad v Villarreal, Sunday 1pm
Villarreal’s heavy loss in north-west Germany was typical of a Champions League campaign that started badly, with Luiz Junior’s ridiculous own goal in the first five minutes of the opening game at Tottenham, and has gone from bad to worse.
Contrast that with their La Liga form, with Marcelino and company sitting third and just three points from the summit.

Position | Team | Played | Points |
1 | Real Madrid | 13 | 32 |
2 | Barcelona | 13 | 31 |
3 | Villarreal | 13 | 29 |
It is tempting to think they will make the most of that consistency in San Sebastian, but Real Sociedad have improved dramatically in recent weeks after a poor start.
Talent was never their issue despite big name losses in recent times (including Martin Zubimendi), and they have won three out of the last four as well as resting up this midweek.

West Ham v Liverpool, Sunday 2.05pm
Just where will the Liverpool crisis end?
The shocking defeat to PSV on Wednesday makes it six defeats in the last seven and they have not just been beaten, but comprehensively so in the three losses in all competitions that lead into this weekend.
West Ham could sympathise in different circumstances, having looked almost dead certs for relegation for the first few months of the campaign.
However, they have looked like a real Nuno team since the start of November, tougher than before. They have also won their last two home games and Callum Wilson has started finding the net too.
