Plymouth Vs Cardiff, Saturday, 12.30pm

Last time I tipped Plymouth to win they lost 5-0 at Cardiff, and walking away from the stadium that day in October I tweeted a photo of the Argyle team bus, accompanied by the caption 'The wheels have come off'.

Predictable, but accurate on a day when 3,200 travelling members of the Green Army saw their team fall apart after a red card for Guinean-Dutch winger Mo Cissoko for shoving Perry Ng right in front of the referee

Much has changed since then. Argyle, having weathered heavy defeats to the likes of Norwich and Bristol City, lost patience with Wayne Rooney and agreed to part ways by mutual consent towards the end of December.

Speculation was rife a return to the Home Park dugout would be on the cards for their 2023 League One title-winning boss Steven Schumacher.

Instead, the calm, focus, poise, drive and absolute determination of Austrian-Bosnian Miron Muslic has brought with it a welcome upturn in fortunes for a side who were in danger of becoming detached at the foot of the Championship.

The former Cercle Brugge head coach has been an almost instant hit in the south west, recruiting astutely as well as rejuvenating the existing squad.

Admittedly, the signs weren't great after three games of the new man's era, yielding a single point in a spell which culminated in a 5-0 home thrashing by Burnley.

Since then, however, the cogs have begun to whirr and then some.

For example, Muslic's new set-piece coach Hubert Auer could be seen giving instructions on the sidelines at Kenilworth Road on Wednesday night, his routines seemingly working to perfection as Ukrainian defender Maxi Talovierov headed the vital equaliser against Luton.

Plymouth also ejected Liverpool from the FA Cup, the prize for which is a third straight tie against Premier League opponents, with Manchester City away in round five.

As for the league, since that Burnley thumping, they've gone on to bag eight points from a possible 15, taking a point up at Sunderland, as well as beating both West Brom and Millwall at home.

Next up is out-of-sorts Cardiff, a game between two sides separated by just three points, anxiously looking to pull away from the danger zone.

Good home form has kept Cardiff just above the relegation places, but since February 1 their away form has been a disaster, losing 2-1 at fellow strugglers Portsmouth, as well as collapsing 7-0 at Leeds.

They also needed a 90th minute leveller to grab a point at home to Bristol City last time out.

With 13 to play it's games like this which will make or break Argyle's survival hopes and I expect Muslic to have them fired up for this, and can't resist putting them up at a standout 9/5 with betting apps for what would be a seventh home win in the league this season.

Notts County Vs Tranmere, Saturday 3pm

Scouring the EFL coupon for the second leg of the double, in League Two I see Notts County are 8/13 with football betting sites to see off struggling Tranmere at Meadow Lane.

County sit fourth in the table and surely haven't abandoned all hopes of winning the fourth tier, given they are nine points adrift of leaders Walsall with 15 games still to play.

Games like this are meat and drink to the Magpies, and having stuttered lately, Stuart Maynard's side will be desperate to resume their previous winning thread.

Tranmere's -27 goal difference remains the worst of any of their League Two contemporaries.

Although these two played out a dull 0-0 draw at Prenton Park way back on the opening day of the season, I confidently expect the Magpies to deliver with ease on home soil.
