Gauselmann Group Brings its First British Casino to Aberdeen

German leisure and entertainment giant Gauselmann Group has opened its first UK casino in the Scottish city of Aberdeen after earlier premiering similar venues in the Netherlands, Serbia, Spain and the Czech Republic.
The new Merkur Casino Aberdeen facility is located on Summer Street near to the heart of ‘The Granite City’ in a building that previously housed the Rainbow Casino enterprise from English casino operator Double Diamond Gaming Limited.

Appealing Prospect
Gauselmann Group revealed that its Merkur Casino Aberdeen property officially opened its doors to the public last Friday afternoon, offering a selection of gaming tables with blackjack, roulette, mahjong and poker entertainment alongside a plethora of the latest slots.
The Espelkamp-headquartered firm declared that its local Merkur Casino UK subsidiary also intends to begin offering a range of ‘corporate packages’ to the wider business community of Aberdeenshire.

Expanding Enterprise
The Chief Operating Officer for Merkur Casino UK, Mark Schertle, disclosed that his company was already responsible for some 225 bingo and slot parlours situated across the length and breadth of the UK and has now saved around 40 jobs by re-opening the struggling Rainbow Casino as the new-look Merkur Casino Aberdeen.
“We’re really excited to be opening our first casino venue in the United Kingdom and what better place to choose than Aberdeen,” Schertle said.
“It will also be a welcome addition to our existing Merkur Slots venue on Union Street in Aberdeen, safeguard jobs and reinforce our continued investment in the local high street.”

Schertle additionally stated that Aberdeen with its population of nearly 500,000 people has ‘a vibrant night-time economy’ and represents ‘the perfect location’ for his firm to launch its inaugural British casino.
“Having already undergone a refresh and new layout of the casino, we now have some exciting plans to invest and develop the business further and look forward to welcoming new and existing customers,” Schertle said.
