NFL 2026 Season Week 2: One Bet From Every Game In Week 2

Wow, what an opening weekend we witnessed in the NFL with the joint most points scored across all 16 games.

The Chicago Bears ran up 59 of the 791 total points in their win in Carolina, while both New York teams - the Giants and Jets - won their opening games for the first time since 2009.

What does Week 2 have in store, with the action getting under way in Buffalo's new stadium where the Detroit Lions are the visiting team. The Bills are -5.5 points favourites on betting apps.

Thursday Night Football

Lions (1-0) @ Bills (1-0)

Over 54.5 Total Points

Buffalo and Detroit both cracked 30 points in Week 1 (36 and 31 respectively), and neither defense showed it could slow anyone down - Buffalo allowed 31, Detroit allowed 30 in an overtime game. 

Two offenses that explosive, facing defenses that porous rarely result in low-scoring affairs - especially this early in the season.

Panthers (0-1) @ Falcons (0-1)

Falcons To Win The First Quarter

This is a narrower, quarter-specific read rather than a broad game read. Atlanta actually won the opening quarter of their loss to Pittsburgh outright, going up by four before the game slipped away from them later. 

Carolina did the opposite - they were already down seven after the first quarter of their own blowout loss. Neither team was good overall last week, but the early-game split favors Atlanta specifically, making an early Falcons lead the more defensible angle here.

Vikings (1-0) @ Bears (1-0)

Bears To Win First Half 

Chicago won or tied every quarter last week, a level of in-game consistency that's rare this early in a season. Minnesota was the mirror opposite for three quarters, trailing by nine at halftime before a 22-point fourth-quarter explosion bailed them out. 

Given the Vikings' slow-starting profile against a Bears team that's shown it can build and hold a lead, backing Chicago to be ahead at the break looks like the stronger side of this matchup.

Eagles (1-0) @ Titans (0-1)

Under 38.5 Total Points

Philadelphia's scoring last week was heavily front-loaded - 14 of their 24 points came in the second quarter alone, and they were actually outscored in the second half, losing the fourth quarter outright. That's not the profile of a team pulling away late. 

Tennessee's offense is bad, which caps the ceiling on this game regardless, but the specific trend worth targeting is Philadelphia's tendency to go quiet after halftime rather than the overall game total.

Steelers (1-0) @ Patriots (0-1)

Under 45 Total Points

New England scored zero points in the fourth quarter last week and lost that stretch by 10, a total collapse in the game's final phase. Pittsburgh, by contrast, actually won their own fourth quarter by four points, showing they can finish games rather than fade. 

Facing a Steelers defense that already generated four sacks and two interceptions once this season, the specific bet on New England going scoreless late again looks like the sharpest angle in this matchup.

Packers (0-1) @ Jets (1-0)

Packers -3.5

Green Bay's Week 1 collapse is one of the more extreme patterns in this whole slate - they actually led at halftime by 9 points, then scored just 3 combined points across the third and fourth quarters. Taking a field goal off the scoreboard was the game's turning point and that lesson needs to be learnt.

The Jets, for their part, were building momentum in the middle quarters of their own game, but that was against a Tennessee Titans team not expected to do much this season. 

Browns (0-1) @ Buccaneers (0-1)

Under 20.5 First Half Points

Both of these teams were remarkably quiet to start their season openers. Cleveland was scoreless through three full quarters before finally getting on the board in the fourth, and Tampa Bay trailed 24-10 at the half. 

When two offenses both show a pattern of slow starts in the same week, betting against an early scoring outburst is the more defensible read than guessing at which one flips the switch first.

Saints (1-0) @ Ravens (1-0)

Ravens Over 16.5 First Half Points

Baltimore's damage last week was almost entirely done by halftime - they scored 31 points in the opening two quarters alone, then managed just 10 more the rest of the way. That's a clear front-loaded scoring pattern rather than a team that grinds evenly across four quarters. 

New Orleans' defense already looked shaky in their own game, failing to score in the opening two quarters against the Lions in Detroit. That makes an explosive Ravens first half a believable repeat rather than a one-off - especially in Baltimore.

Bengals (1-0) @ Texans (0-1)

Bengals (-3.5) 1st Quarter

Cincinnati's best stretch last week came right out of the gate - a 14-3 opening quarter that put them up by 11 before the game with the Buccaneers tightened. That kind of fast start suggests a scripted opening drive series that's working well for their offense right now. 

Houston lost their first quarter to the Bills, and if that early-game vulnerability carries over, it lines up well against a Joe Burrow-led Bengals offense that's already shown it can strike early.

Jaguars (1-0) @ Broncos (0-1)

Jaguars To Lead After Every Quarter

Jacksonville's Week 1 performance was about as complete as it gets - they won three of the four quarters outright and never trailed at any point in the game. Denver was the inverse: they lost every single quarter, never leading once across 60 minutes. 

When one team shows that level of wire-to-wire control and the other shows the opposite, betting on the pattern repeating is a much stronger play than guessing at a single scoring line.

Raiders (1-0) @ Chargers (0-1)

Under 43.5 Total Points

Las Vegas won or tied every quarter in their Week 1 win, never once trailing during the game - a genuinely dominant, complete performance on both sides of the ball. However, it was against a Dolphins team currently rebuilding for the future.

The Chargers, meanwhile, never led a single quarter of their own opener at home to the Cardinals, and they cannot afford to lose more ground in a competitive AFC West. Both matches involving these two sides produced exactly 40 points.

Commanders (0-1) @ Cowboys (0-1)

Both Teams to Score 20+ Points

Washington, who scored 22 points in Philadelphia, trailed for three quarters last week before finally winning the fourth outright by six points, their only real positive stretch of the entire game. It's a small sample, but it does suggest some late-game fight even when the rest of the performance is shaky. 

Dallas, who scored 20 points at the Giants, didn't show a similarly strong closing kick in their own opener, which makes backing Washington's fourth-quarter output specifically a more targeted play than betting on the full game. Both teams scored 20+ points in the two meetings last season.

Seahawks (1-0) @ Cardinals (1-0)

Over 12.5 Total Q4 Points

Both of these teams saved their best offensive quarter for last in Week 1 - Arizona won their fourth quarter 10-0 against the Chargers, and so did Seattle in their Super Bowl LX rematch with the Patriots. Neither team showed much life scoring-wise before the fourth quarter arrived, but both clearly found something once the game reached its final stretch. 

With both sides sharing that exact same late-game scoring pattern, a high-scoring fourth quarter looks like the more specific, better-supported angle than a generic game total.

Dolphins (0-1) @ 49ers (1-0)

49ers (-4) To Win Q4

San Francisco's scoring actually increased every single quarter last week, climbing from three points in the first up to 10 in the fourth - a team that gets stronger, not weaker, as the game goes on. Miami never won a quarter and showed no sign of slowing anyone down at any stage of their loss to Las Vegas. 

That ascending 49ers trend paired with Miami's complete lack of defensive resistance makes a strong fourth quarter from San Francisco the more precise bet.

Colts (1-0) @ Chiefs (1-0)

Chiefs To Lead After Every Quarter

Kansas City's Week 1 win at home to the Broncos was eerily consistent - they won three straight quarters by exactly seven points each after an even opening quarter, never giving Denver a sniff of a comeback. Indianapolis lost every quarter except a marginal third, and were blown out late by Baltimore. 

That level of quarter-to-quarter reliability from the Chiefs, against a Colts defense that's already shown it can be had, makes backing Kansas City to lead throughout the safer, more specific read.

Monday Night Football

Giants (1-0) @ Rams (0-1)

Under 48.5 Total Points

New York won or tied every quarter in their opening win and never trailed at any point in the game, a clean, complete performance from start to finish. The Rams were the exact opposite - they did not win any quarter and were never ahead in Melbourne against the 49ers, scoring just seven points and mustering only 290 net yards all game. 

However, the Rams should have Aaron Donald available after coming out of retirement, but will he be able to replicate the form he showed in the past when he was named Defensive Player of the Year three times. His presence will demand double coverage which will leave others to get to Jaxon Dart.
