James McAtee Next Club Odds: Forest Favourites After Frankfurt Deal Stalls

James McAtee has enjoyed a successful summer so far, captaining the England U21s to European Championship glory.

Now, his attention will turn to the new Premier League season and where he will be playing his football next.

It seemed like a move to Eintracht Frankfurt had been agreed, but that is said to have hit the rocks and Nottingham Forest are now favourites with betting sites to sign the exciting young midfielder.

Below, we look at which other teams are in the running and the latest James McAtee next club odds.

Forest New Market Leaders

Last season's surprise packages Nottingham Forest are preparing for their return to European football for the first time in 30 years, and they could turn to McAtee to add some quality.

Nuno Espirito Santo will need to replace Anthony Elanga after losing him to Newcastle, and will have money to spend.

With Morgan Gibbs-White's future also up in the air, Forest fans could do with some good news.

McAtee would bring some much-needed creativity to the team, and betting apps make them the 4/5 favourites to sign the City man this summer.

Frankfurt Deal Hits The Rocks

It seemed that McAtee was close to signing with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, but that deal seems to have fallen through in recent days.

Their star striker Hugo Ekitike is close to leaving for Liverpool, but the German club are unlikely to replace him with the 22-year-old.

Having finished third last season, the 2021/22 Europa League winners were hoping to build on their success with McAtee playing a major part.

Despite the deal being in doubt as it stands, Frankfurt are still 3/1 second favourites in the McAtee next club betting.

Dortmund Another Bundesliga Option

McAtee had reportedly been in talks with several German teams, and Borussia Dortmund are thought to be in the running.

A number of young English players have starred at the club in recent years, and Jobe Bellingham has already made the move this summer.

Niko Kovac's side can offer Champions League football next season and would be an attractive move for McAtee.

They are currently 6/1 with football betting sites to sign the midfielder.

Hammers Need Improvements

Graham Potter is attempting to build his West Ham team to fit his style for next season, but things have been slow so far at the London Stadium.

El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters are the only two new faces through the door, and with Mohammed Kudus having joined Tottenham, they need some quality replacements soon.

McAtee would suit Potter's possession-based style and would boost the mood among West Ham supporters.

The Hammers are also 6/1 to sign him in the current transfer window.

Everton Drift In The Market

With an asking price of just £25 million, the majority of Premier League clubs will be able to afford the City youngster.

Everton are not expected to spend big this summer as they move into their new stadium, so McAtee would be an ideal signing.

David Moyes turned things around at the Toffees last season, and although he prefers a more direct style of play, his team is in need of creativity.

Everton were the 5/6 favourites last week, but have since drifted to 8/1.

Atalanta Were In 'Advanced Talks'

According to some reports, Atalanta were in negotiations to sign McAtee this summer.

The Serie A club were involved in a title battle last season, but fell away in the closing stages.

They ultimately finished third, and signing a player with McAtee's talent could help them close the gap on champions Napoli.

The Italians were once 2/1 in the market, but can now be backed at 18/1 with Bet365.

Newcastle And Spurs Among Outsiders

Newcastle (25/1) are enduring a difficult time in the transfer market, having missed out on a number of targets.

Eddie Howe is thought to admire McAtee, but he may be looking to strengthen in other areas of the pitch.

Tottenham (25/1) have brought in Kudus, but Thomas Frank is unlikely to be finished adding to his squad, and McAtee fits the profile of a player that the former Brentford manager can get the most out of.

Other teams priced at 25/1 include Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
