Joe Cordina vs Edward Vazquez Predictions:

The undefeated, Joe Cordina, is the landslide favourite with UK betting sites, as he prepares to defend his super-featherweight title against Edward Vazquez on Saturday evening.

The 31-year-old reclaimed his belt in a hard-fought split decision victory over Shavkatgzhon Rakhimov back in April, and takes to the stage in Monaco to face an established operator in Vazquez.

Having stepped in the ring just once in the past two years due to a gruesome hand injury, Cordina is eager to put on an impressive display under the bright lights of Monte Carlo.

While bookmakers are heavily siding with the British fighter due to his flawless record, it's important to note that the American challenger will not just turn up for a pay cheque with a world title on the line.

Cordina Aims For Convincing Victory

After edging out Rakhimov to secure the belt, Cordina is determined to secure a more resounding win as he headlines in his first title defence.

Boasting just three knockouts from his 15 victories, questions have been raised over Vazquez's punch power, with the remaining 12 wins having to come via the judge's scorecards.

With the American fighter entering this contest as a significant underdog, it appears the onus will be on Cordina to dictate the tempo of the bout.

Joe Cordina vs Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov

The Cardiff-born boxer delivered one of the knockouts of the decade when he brutally KO'd Kenichi Ogawa in the second round just over a year ago and a repeat of this could set up a clash with one of the world's elite in the super featherweight division.

Undoubtedly, Vazquez will have studied that fight among others of his opponent, and will be aware that the Welshman will serve as the biggest trial of his renowned resilience.

Cordina has prior experience in this weekend's venue and this could play a huge part in the early stages of the bout, whilst his opponent attempts to acclimatise to a new setting.

The question for betting apps is not whether Cordina wins, but rather, how will he be victorious.

With the American decently ranked at No.10 with the IBF, Cordina has a golden opportunity to send a message to the likes of Leigh Wood and Emanuel Navaratte with a knockout performance.

While Vazquez may appear to possess a granite chin on the surface, he has yet to face an opponent of this calibre, alongside a fight of this magnitude.

Early Stoppages Are Within Joe’s Repertoire

Eight of the nine stoppages that Cordina has achieved have come in the first half of his contests, three of which came in the first round.

Last time out, a second round knockdown and cut over the right eye of Rakhimov in the sixth wasn't enough to conclude the bout, but clearly the reigning champion's punching power remains undiminished despite his hand injury.

Saturday's fight will be just the second time that the Brit has competed outside his home nation, however, given that the sole other contest took place in the same venue, we anticipate that he'll capitalise on his familiarity from the offset.

The durability of his 28-year-old opponent has rarely been truly tested when assuming the position of underdog, with the exception of his fight with Raymond Ford

This adds an exciting dynamic to the bout, with an element of uncertainty coming into play as to how the American will perform when few give him anything more than a puncher's chance.

Boxing betting sites have tabled odds of 4/1 for Cordina to end the bout in the first half of the fight, and with the statistics supporting that likelihood, a lightning-quick start from the Welshman could make this prediction come to fruition.

Despite having only 16 professional fights under his belt, Cordina has encountered nearly every possible outcome in the ring and with many considering his opponent for Saturday a step down in terms of class, leads us to anticipate a memorable stoppage in his favour.
