Jonathan David Next Club Odds: Arsenal Lead PL Clubs in Race For Lille Ace

Jonathan David has revealed he will leave Lille at the end of the season when his contract expires and will therefore become a free agent.

Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign the Canada international, who finished the Ligue 1 season as the fourth top scorer with 16 goals.

David scored a goal every two games during a two-year spell with Gent and has an almost identical ratio in the French top flight after five seasons.

Betting sites make Napoli the frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old striker during the summer, but who are their rivals for his signature?

We examine the clubs in the running and the latest next Jonathan David club odds.

Napoli Lead Way For David Deal

Serie A title hopefuls Napoli have been installed as the Evens favourites with football betting sites and are reportedly already in talks.

Italian transfer market specialists Calciomercato believe discussions between David’s agent and the club are going well.

There are still some differences to iron out such as the signing-on bonus, but that does not seem insurmountable.

Romelu Lukaku remains Napoli’s number one striker, but they must improve and bolster their squad for next season’s Champions League campaign.

David would be a welcome addition to Antonio Conte’s squad, but it remains to be seen whether he signs on the dotted line.

Inter In The Race

Conte’s former clubs Inter Milan and Juventus are next in line to sign David at 6/1 with Bet365.

Inter have a reputation for signing top-quality players on free transfers and Gazzetta dello Sport claims Napoli’s title rivals have already made a move for David.

That said, the club’s owners Oaktree Capital will have to pay much higher wages and do not want to pay excessive fees to agents, so we shall see whether this move transpires.

Old Lady Forward Thinking

Juventus are in pole position to grab the final Champions League spot ahead of Roma and Lazio, so they would also be a tempting proposition for David.

Italian sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Old Lady have already started the process to bring David to Turin.

With doubts surrounding the future of Dusan Vlahovic, who has a year left to run on his contract, and Randal Kolo Muani’s loan spell from PSG coming to an end, it is imperative Juve bolster their strikeforce for next season.

David Could Resolve Gunners' Striking Problem

Arsenal’s lack of a centre-forward may well have hampered their title ambitions over the last couple of years and it’s becoming obvious that signing a number nine will be Mikel Arteta’s priority this summer.

Injury-prone Gabriel Jesus prefers to come in on the left, but that’s where Gabriel Martinell and Leandro Trossard play.

Kai Havertz has also been utilised as a striker this season, yet he is more suited as an attacking midfielder, so it’s clear the Gunners have a gap to fill.

The north Londoners are 8/1 with betting apps to bring David to the Emirates Stadium.

Reds In The Market For Star Striker

Liverpool are priced at 12/1 to sign a player who has scored 31 goals in 61 appearances for Canada.

The Reds are likely to be looking for a new striker in the summer amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Darwin Nunez.

Diogo Jota has been used as a number nine when fit, but manager Arne Slot may prefer someone with more presence inside the area.

Champions League Hopefuls Dark Horses

Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea could all be playing in the Champions League next season and are 14/1 to snap up David on a free transfer.

Speculation continues to surround the future of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, who has been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe wants to keep the Sweden striker on Tyneside, but may turn to David if Isak is sold.

Manchester United’s troubles in front of goal are renowned and it remains to be seen whether Rasmus Hojlund has a future at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim would love a prolific striker, like David, leading the line, but the club will still have to sell some of their prized assets to satisfy the Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Their hopes of landing David may also depend on whether they win Wednesday’s Europa League final against Tottenham which would guarantee Champions League football next season.

Fail, and they will not be playing in Europe at all.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has had a mixed season at Chelsea and the owners may want to sign a more clinical striker than the Colombian, who is renowned for missing chances.

Elsewhere, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both available at 16/1 to bring David to La Liga.
