Man City Relegation Odds Slashed After Reported Guilty Verdicts

Betting sites have moved quickly to slash or suspend Manchester City's relegation odds after reports emerged that the club had been found guilty on 114 of 115 charges relating to breaches of Premier League financial regulations.
Reuters reported that The Athletic said City had been found responsible for all but one of the 115 alleged breaches, though the Premier League declined to comment on the report and City is expected to appeal.
Relegation Price Cut Sharply
Betfair's relegation price for Manchester City in the 2026/27 season moved from 11/1 to 9/2, giving the club an implied 18% chance of dropping into the Championship according to Betfair Predicts, a Betfair spokesperson said.
Other bookmakers reacted with even shorter prices, with some operators quoting City as short as 3/1 to be relegated this season following the reports.
City's price to win the Premier League also drifted, moving from 11/8 to 9/4 on some betting apps, while Arsenal were backed in from evens to 8/11 to retain the title.
Bookmakers Suspend Markets Outright
A number of major UK bookmakers, including Ladbrokes, Coral, Betway and BetMGM, suspended all team-related outright markets on the 2026/27 Premier League involving Manchester City rather than continue to price the outcome.
William Hill also paused betting on the club's relegation specifically, citing uncertainty over the severity of any sanction.
City has consistently denied wrongdoing. In a statement quoted by Reuters, the club said the Premier League process 'remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed', pointing to the confidentiality of the proceedings.
Both parties have 14 days to appeal, and the Premier League has not announced an official outcome, meaning any final sanction, including a possible points deduction or relegation, remains unresolved.

Other Exchanges Move Too
Rival exchange Matchbook priced Manchester City to finish bottom of the Premier League at roughly 5/1, while Betfred also confirmed it had suspended relegation and title betting on the club.
City had been as long as 25/1 to be relegated before the start of the 2026/27 season and had drifted only as far as 14/1 during the opening weeks of the campaign, before the reports of the verdict prompted the sharper cuts across the market.
Some bookmakers draw a distinction between relegation on points and relegation via an administrative sanction such as expulsion from the league, meaning the final settlement of any punishment could still affect how existing bets are graded.
