Next Cheltenham Town Manager Odds: Can Cotterill Revive The Robins?

Cheltenham Town are looking for a new manager after parting company with Michael Flynn following a 3-0 home loss to Oldham, with former boss Steve Cotterill favourite with betting sites to take his place.

The loss was the Robins' ninth in 12 matches across all competitions this season.

Flynn had been in charge of Cheltenham since May 2024 and guided them to 15th place in the table last season.

In a 48-word statement confirming his departure on the club website, Cheltenham thanked Flynn for "his efforts and contributions".

New owner Mike Garlick completed his takeover of the club in August and initially backed Flynn, describing him as "the man" to turn results around despite five successive league defeats at the time.

But with only one win in the four League Two matches since, Garlick has chosen to make a change.

Cheltenham are searching for their fourth permanent manager since 2022, after Wade Elliott, Darrell Clarke and now Flynn.

We take a look at the latest odds offered by football betting sites to fill the vacancy at Whaddon Road.

Cotterill Considered For Comeback

Local hero Cotterill is available after leaving Forest Green Rovers, where he failed to secure promotion from the National League last season.

The Cheltenham-born boss guided the Robins to three promotions during his time in charge more than 20 years ago.

While his return would offer experience, some supporters may prefer the club to look forward rather than revisit the past.

Cotterill is currently 1/2 favourite for the job he last held in 2002.

Brady The Best Of The Bunch?

Jon Brady has been out of work since leaving Northampton Town in December 2024, but his record remains impressive.

Northampton missed out on promotion to League One in 2022 on the final day, but secured automatic promotion the following season.

Operating with one of the smaller budgets in the division, Brady then led the Cobblers to a 14th-place finish in their first year back in the third tier.

His ability to adapt tactically could appeal to the Gloucestershire club and he is 3/1 in the next Cheltenham Town manager market.

Hinshelwood In High Demand

York City’s decision to part company with Adam Hinshelwood was viewed by many as harsh.

It came after a season in which they narrowly missed out on promotion despite collecting 96 points.

The 41-year-old is regarded as a manager with Football League potential and is noted for an attractive style of play that he could bring to Whaddon Road.

It is unlikely he will be out of the game for long and Hinshelwood is 6/1 on betting apps for the Robins’ role.

Taylor Leads Chasing Pack

Matt Taylor (12/1) guided Exeter City to promotion in 2022 before managing in the Championship with Rotherham United and more recently returning to League One at Bristol Rovers.

His previous spell as a Cheltenham player stands him in good stead, while his Exeter tenure highlighted his passion for academy integration and effective recruitment.

The concern is the short length of his recent roles, but his track record of improving players within limited budgets could appeal.

Other names in the market include Steve Evans (12/1), former Notts County boss Luke Williams (20/1) and current Boston United manager Graham Coughlan (20/1), while a host of names, including Robbie Savage and Ian Evatt are at 25/1.
