Paul Hurst was sacked by Grimsby Town at the end October, with the League Two club deciding to change their manager after a succession of disappointing results.
The Mariners are stationed near the foot of the League Two table, with the search continuing for someone to replace a club legend and the best betting sites have released their odds on the candidates.
David Artell is the current favourite, but it’s open to question as to whether the former Crewe manager would consider a switch to Blundell Park.

David Artell was available at 8/1 just a few days ago, but the 42-year-old is now the 2/5 favourite with football betting sites to take over at Grimsby.
He is an experienced manager who regularly gets linked with vacant positions across League One and League Two.
His only actual experience has come at one club, with the former Gibraltar international having presided over Crewe Alexandra between 2017-2022.

Since Paul Hurst was sacked at Blundell Park, Shaun Pearson and Ben Davies have been in joint-caretaker charge of the Mariners.

The 34-year-old might be regarded as a risky appointment, however there have been some encouraging signs after the Mariners picked up four points from their last two league matches.

He also helped them reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup, while it took him a further two seasons to engineer automatic promotion to League One.
Since then, there have been spells with Huddersfield and Portsmouth, with Cowley sacked by the latter at the beginning of 2023.
It remains to be seen whether the Grimsby job is something that interests a manager who might set his sights higher when it comes to the next position.

Nathan Rooney might not be well-known by the majority of football fans, but he is someone who has impressed in Gibraltar when coaching FC Brunos Magpies.
Reports suggest that the 34-year-old is among the contenders to replace Hurst and this coach has also held positions with Blackburn Rovers, Fleetwood Town, Carlisle United and Crawley Town.

Cochrane and Artell Next in Grimsby Town Betting
Steve Morison (8/1) was sacked as Cardiff City manager back in September 2022 and returned to management in June of this year at the helm of Isthmian Premier League side Hornchurch FC.
However, with the latter being a number of divisions below Grimsby, it is a role that could appeal to the ex-striker who looks for more experience as an EFL manager.
Justin Cochrane (16/1) is the current Head of Coaching at Brentford FC, with the 41-year-old having previously worked with a series of England youth teams.
The former Crewe player has also held a coaching and development role at Manchester United, with betting apps anticipating that he fits the sort of profile that Grimsby are looking for.
