Next Portsmouth Manager Odds: Wagner Favourite To Replace Mousinho

John Mousinho is under huge pressure as Portsmouth manager and the best betting sites have opened a market on who might replace him.

Following promotion from League One last season, Pompey are aiming to establish themselves back in the second tier this year.

Mousinho's side have struggled for form all season and after winning consecutive home games to Middlesbrough and Stoke, they have lost their last two, including a 1-0 reverse at home to Millwall.

If the club decide to make a change, who will be the next manager at Fratton Park? Let’s check out the latest odds offered by betting apps.

Wagner Favourite For Pompey Joy

David Wagner has had eight months to get over the disappointment of last season's play-off defeat to Leeds, which ultimately cost him his job as Norwich manager.

Wagner knows the league very well and won promotion to the Premier League with Huddersfield, and while promotion is not Portsmouth's number one goal this season, staying in the Championship is all that matters.

Don't be surprised if Wagner gets a call from Fratton Park in the coming weeks. Wagner is the 15/8 favourite to replace Mousinho.

Edwards High On The List

It's been a whirlwind 18 months for Rob Edwards, who guided Luton to the Premier League, oversaw their relegation and lost his job after a disappointing first half of the season.

Edwards was relieved of his duties by the Hatters on January 9 with the Kenilworth Road club deep in a relegation fight.

While this season has been a disaster, it should not be forgotten that Edwards has a promotion from the Championship on his CV.

Edwards is 5/2 to be Portsmouth's next manager.

Martin Might Be The Answer For Pompey

Russell Martin is another manager waiting by the phone for his next opportunity.

Martin was sacked by Southampton on December 15, with the St Mary's club rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

Like Edwards, Martin knows what it takes to guide a team to promotion and he is 11/4 to answer Pompey's call, if they decide their survival hopes could benefit from a change of manager.

Could Lowe Raise The Bar At Fratton Park?

Portsmouth will hope they can avoid an immediate return to League One, and perhaps a change of manager will help.

If they decide to move on from Mousinho, who were promoted to the Championship as champions, then Ryan Lowe could be on their list of candidates.

Lowe started the season as Preston's manager, but he left Deep Dale by mutual consent after just one game, a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United.

The former North End boss is 3/1 to be the next Portsmouth boss.

Buckingham Among The Rest

Des Buckingham took Oxford from League One to the Championship, but lost his job after a poor first half of the season.

One win in his last 14 games forced the board to make a tough decision, and the club are unbeaten in eight league games since bringing in Gary Rowett.

Buckingham is 7/2 to be Portsmouth's next manager.

Also in the mix are Neil Harris (4/1), Valerien Ismael (5/1), Gary O'Neil (8/1) and Steve Cooper (12/1).
